Most are from the cats back which incorporates the Y-pipe section.

This may be a silly question, but you are not counting the large resonator under the car as a "cat" are you?

The cats come off the extractors/exhaust manifolds/headers/whatever you wanna call them and end right under the foot wells... which means that a "cat-back" on a V35 is basically everything that is under the floor of the car.

In all honesty exhausts aren't my area/strong point, so please forgive me if I sound dumb or stupid.

All I basically want is a new full exhaust from start to finish that is NSW P-Plate legal, that sounds nice?

Help/ideas/suggestions would be great.

Car in question is a 250GT sedan

It all depends on what you are after, if you go with a Jap brand system you will end up with a top quality system at a cost. You could get a system from the states which I find to be a little bit crude'r, but at a better price.

I have the Stillen gen 2 true dual cat back system that I had to modify when I went FI, had a nice note, was a touch louder than what I wanted. Now it sounds great with the turbo fitted.

Most aftermarket systems the 'Y' pipe is seperate to the rest of the exhaust, and most of the Jap systems for the sedan are designed of the 250 & 300 GT series' as they have smaller pipe diameters than the 350 coupe.
