I was told that being a constant mesh gearbox that parts are hard to come by / rare for these gearboxes. My gearbox specialist said that I need to replace my "reverse mesh" and he is having problems finding it as the parts are rare. Can anyone confirm this? Is a constant mesh gearbox rare in a R33 are the boxes rare period? Are parts hard to come by?

IIRC the earlier parts are deprecated, and therefore if you want to rebuild an early box (R32) you may have to bring it up to R33 Series 2 (or is it series 3?) standard with some updated parts. AFAIK all the parts are available tho. Nissan or rhdjapan or....

This thread makes no sense.

Almost every manual gearbox is constant mesh, that's how they work. Is your gearbox specialist 100 years old or something lol...sounds like something was lost in translation. He's probably talking about the reverse idler gear. Parts are only as rare as the gearboxes...you probably can't buy the gear from Nissan and would need another gearbox to source it from.
