Yeah I  understand that. So what I was saying was I don't see what having the police pull him over had anything to do with the whole police looking for stolen cars, they pulled him over due to the fact it was a "grey import". Ah well :)

no.... they pulled him over because THAT is their job.

you're still missing the point here.

They probably weren't even TMU.

......and we still don't know if calvintys actually got booked/canaried etc.

Cops try to unnerve people.

Maybe he shouldn't have given them cheek in the first place, and they would have gone away :(

calvintys already said he just got a warning!!

I think they are under the impression that we have no clue about cars, like them (refer to thread "whats the stupidest thing a cop as haid to you", hence they make up crap on the spot. But the fact that we do know about car makes people really mad because we have idiots inforcing laws they know nothing about.

im sure anyone would be peeved if they got pulled over twice in the space of 20mins with no real reason behind it. and understanably the cops are doin their jobs in the odd chance they come across one that is stolen. i wouldnt have a problem with being pulled over twice in a row and being checkd by someone who knows what theyre talkin about cause when it comes down to it if u know ur car is legal then theres nothing to sweat over cause theyre just doin their jobs .but like INASNT said its just an insult when they dont know their shiit and start pulling stinky rabbits out of their arses!!

During my conversation with the stupid cop about my bumper bar.

COP: U know that is illigal dont you?

me:This bumper bar is a genuine bar from nissan (before i can continue)

COP: Dont tell me this, come on u know this stuff, dont think i dono, come on....

Me: (in my mind WTF) i seriouly dono what is wrong with my bar.

Second thing which i forgot to say,

When my car got pull over, i quickly walk out from my car and the first word which came out from my mouth " I JUST GOT PULL OVER 20 minute ago", then they ask can i have your driver lisence, i gave it to him then i continue " can you pls tell me why u wana pull me over"

Then the cop start saying those illigal stuff... also pls keep not they doesn't even look at my car Rego at all... if they wana check stolen car, they would have the rego as well but he didnt... WTF

meh i never get in trouble like dat from the cops

i find the best way to deal with them is to act scared and call them sir

sounds like a suck up but it works

also if they ask u to pop the bonnet you do realise u dont have to

its ur legal right to refuse this without them having a warrant to search ur car

If it's a regular cop, they can't ask you to pop the bonnet.

However, TMU can.

This doesn't mean that they are allowed to touch anything though.

Without your permission they are only allowed to "look"- if they have reason to believe that you have something illegal under there.

If the car isn't registered to you, then you can refuse permission, but generally its a good idea to just go along with what they say so that you can be on your way with as few dramas as possible.

If you people want to make life harder for Police, then be aware that Police can be fined if they don't provide you with the following details in writing when you ask for them:-

  • Name
  • Identification number
  • Rank
  • Station they come from.

They MUST provide you with this information if you ask. :D

i think there are some problems with the way you handled this issue...

firstly, cops are very much on a power trip and you don't want to challenge this. I would have waited in my car and acted very politely. even if you are angry, never raise your voice as ths will just incite an unwanted response from the cop. treat them the way you want them to treat you, confucious say...

secondly, if you act appropriately and you still get treated like shit, just calmly say something along the lines of "excuse me sir. can i please have your name and badge number. i feel the way i have been treated is inappropriate and wish to take this matter further". i guarantee if you say this calmly then the cop will get scared and defend himself and give you a warning instead of a fine... and if they do still give you a stupid fine then take it to the local station and complain...complain...complain...complain. its the only way shit gets through to them...

BUT this would only work if you don't act like a coc.k to them in the first place.

Waz.

if u feel u are wrongly defected, is there anything you can do about it?

i have been told u can go to some department in the police and make some form of complaint, is that true?

U can sent a complaint into the police Ombudsmen.

If the same idiot cop has been reported before to the Ombudsmen then u have a chance of them actually doing something about it coz they are all in bed together anyway

    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
    • Pretty sure they run the same engine as the Q50 hybrid which specifies 95 RON.  I ran 98 in mine for a while, but it made no difference in performance or economy, so I have been using 95 for the last few years.  I have never hit 6.0L/100km, but have returned mid to high 6 on the highway.  Being a hybrid, fuel economy is a lot more dependant on how you drive it.  At 110km/h, mine never goes into EV mode on the highway, so returns closer to 7.5L/100. urban driving can return low 8s if you are careful or over 10 if you are a bit more enthusiastic on the throttle.
    • About a quarter of what you want to do. It's only R7R, not R&dismantle&replaceparts&reassemble&R. ? It is stock. I already told you, you will NOT have broken those. It's f**king 4th gear for Christ's sake. You just chipped the teeth off.
