I used one of these; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150667416826?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Although, they were only $29 when I bought mine.

I removed one numberplate light & made up a plate for it to fit into. It's wireless, but it also comes with a cable if you choose to go that way. It's very stealthy, against my Black paint; you can hardly see it.

I've still go one wiring connection to make since Andy65b modded the factory tuner for me, so I'm not sure how well it works; but it should be fine.

Yeah il deffinalty out in an over ride.

That looks good, was it hard to adapt to fit?

No, about 1/2 an hour with a piece of 3mm alloy; drill holes for mounting screws, and notch out a hole for the camera with a little coping saw.

Took longer for the paint to dry, than it did to make.

Here is the write up I did when I installed mine.

I'm still going to add an on/off switch to power it when not in reverse. I'll use a diode on the reverse lights power feed so when I activate the on/off switch it won't turn the reverse lights on.

I can't see myself using the camera when not reversing very often but atleast I'll have the option.

Just curious; is it at all possible to wire up the reverse camera into the existing JDM tuner? As the new Double Din unit I'm throwing in the car will have the GPS and media duties, the Mrs wants to have the stock screen actually used for something apart from the economy readings etc.

Would it be a similar process to what Paul has described in his post above (linked)?

  • 3 years later...

I am about to remove a single din headunit and screen with a double din unit. I currently have a reversing camera installed and want to reuse it with the new head unit. However, whoever installed this one has used power from the rear acccesory socket to power the signal for the camera, so it's on all the time while the screen is switched on. Can anyone tell me where I can find the reverse signal wire and what colour it should be? S1 c34 Stagea auto converted to manual if that makes any difference? I Just want to tap into the reverse light power in the rear so it will only come on in reverse. I'd find it with a test light but I don't have a lot of help so it would be a little time consuming. Cheers
