Got up this morning and went to get into my car and -- saw the window has been smashed in, but not only that, the idiots who tried to get in dented out the door (probably because they couldn't open the door)..

I'm so pissed off, especially because my car was in pristine condition... What would be my best course of action here? replace the whole door, or get a replacement glass and get the door fixed at panel beaters.. I haven't called insurance yet (just car) but I'm guessing I'm going to have to pay a huge amount of excess?

Hey man sorry to hear about that hey it really is pathetic that dream boats have no respect for other people's property.

If your under 21 like me then your exess is going to be massive, i wouldn't really know what to recommend but i express my sympathy! And on anzac day, f**k that's sad.

Hey bud.

Sorry to hear, this happened to me last year (except the pricks that got into mine knew how to open a fkn door)

How bad is the dent? could be a cheaper option to buy a replacement window + fix the door.

I personally went with replacing the window as it would be cheaper than paying the access.

perhaps just going through insurance this time would help.

If you are going to source a window yourself, I had been quoted between to about $900 through Nissan Australia / closer to $600 from Nissan japan.

Thank god I found one on here for about $100 after about 3 days of solid searching.

Good luck bud and i hope cops manage to get prints catch them and string em up by their eyeballs

I lodged a claim with just car insurance. My excess was 400 - which I guess is ok since they will be fixing the door and replacing the window. I doubt they will be able to make the door look perfect, so I might suggest to them that it might be better to just replace the door along with the glass. The guy told me that if I'm not happy with the repairs I can keep going back until they have it looking like it did prior to the incident.

I'm really pissed off and didn't expect this to happen where I live (burnside) and didn't expect it to happen today of all days.

ps. does anyone know how long these type of repairs take? Will I be without a car for months? (as it is an import) or are Nissan australia able to supply parts like doors and windows?

Thanks mate - so they would order the parts in from nissan right? The door is dented outwards as shown in the image below - they wouldn't attempt to fix this right? as I'm guessing they won't be able to make it look perfect, they would just replace the door right?

And some of the rubber seals around the door are ripped, they would replace these also yeah?

Guess I'm just getting really paranoid - my car was in perfect condition before this :(

They did say that if I'm not happy I can take it back and they would keep working on it until its in the condition it was before the incident.

Make your repairer and assessor aware of what you expect, and what you know to be wrong, like the seal that needs replacing. Let them know that if its not right you will ask insurance company rework it till its right.
