Hey guys, I've got a really strange problem here but firstly the model of my car is a 2004 V35 250gt Sedan

I got sick of only getting 1 radio station so bought an FM Expander and installed it myself but got this issue which never was resolved. I can only get 32 degrees from anywhere between 18.5-32 and 18 dregrees at 18.. so basically a minimum and maximum temperature only. This quote looks possibly the reason, but since he is in Brisbane I can't really get much help.

]Chris Rogers GENERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES

My Air Conditioning is stuck on 18deg and I cannot control it!!

this is a issue for those with the integrated dash only.two problems cause this:

1) there are 6 internal power supplies inside the radio. 3 of which run the front panel. Vdd - +5v Vfl - +29.5v and ACC (+12v) if ANY of these die you lose the radio and the A/C controls.

2) broken of damaged ribbon from the radio to the front panel. this is usually damaged when you (or the previous owner) pulls the radio out for some reason.

despite what you may be told this IS NOT an electrical Issue.

contact me directly if in brisbane if you have one of these or send the unit to me. this is not really a DIY fix UNLESS you have the schematics for the radio itself.

So I figured I'd also get a new headunit (and hopefully when I open the whole front up again could find the issue to the aircon) for the car, bought 2 iso harnesses for easy plug and play and installed them. I removed the Expander and Stock Headunit. The new headunit works fine but the aircon still had the same issue. I made sure that everything was plugged back in securely.

I was happy with the new headunit and can tolerate having 18 or 32 degrees but a new issue came up... My PARKER lights and lights on the dash won't turn off!

so I've removed the negative connecting to the battery and have come here in hope for some help.

Thank You

Michael

Maybe when you installed the new radio you have joined the illumination ones up to the 12v supply. Also the aircon problem might be a rubber tube that comes from the dash to the aircon. It sometimes comes out when you pull the dash out. Look for a little vent on the drivers side dash and have a look behind it to see if the hose has come off. That sucks in air to let the climate control work out the cabin temp.

Thank you for the swift reply! Will check that out in the next few hours :)

Also I've resolved the Parker Lights issue (embarrased to explain what it was) but I see that it's happened before http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/336033-parker-lights-wont-turn-off/ .lol

    • Latest round of updates on the car. I purchased and installed a SWS clutch slipper to help with 60ft times and got some second-hand good condition 275/40R17 Hoosier DR2 radials. Test and tune in November showed the tyres were an upgrade over my over 15 year old mickey Thompson's and I got a 1.8 second 60ft and pb et of 11.71 but even then, that run wasn't great due to rain and driver error (the event got called off 10 minutes later fast forward to the weekend just gone 25th of Jan and there was finally a break in the weather to let racing happen. The first run the track was slippery and only managed a 12.1@129 Second run the track was better and got a new pb et and mph: 11.54@131   Lith and I then worked out that I installed the previously mentioned clutch slipper incorrectly and its never been working, and I had just been dumping the clutch the entire time, we also noticed it was on street boost and not race boost. So I lined up for a third run with the car turned up in the first two gears, but the passengers side axle objected to clutch dumps and left the chat which stopped my weekend.   so there will be another attempt in the future once I replace the tyres as they rubbed and are stuffed now. but a low 11 should be on the cards.
    • Ceramic coating and heat shielding, you mean?
    • Turbos don't require pulling the motor apart so that's "easier". I would recommend the Nismo R3 turbos instead if you want to do stock twin turbo. It doesn't make as much power as the 2530s but it's only like ~50 whp off the mark and should have better response (ball bearing CHRA, slightly smaller turbo). A local that went with a Garrett G30 and 6boost manifold recently nearly burned his car to the ground after the hood insulator started melting and and burning so if you go single turbo I recommend doing a lot of research and validation work to make sure you don't do the same.
    • New rear lights, filler panel sprayed, cleaned and back together    before, during, after shots 😍
    • 100% is gyprock, I agree. Slip of the keyboard. Haha! I left my indicator bulbs out to save a bit of weight.
