I was just flicking threw some NZ mag at the newsagents and saw this GTR that broke GTR-700's time, to make it the fastest GTR outside Japan. Its not the Croydan Wholesalers one becuase that ran a 8.55 its some other one.

There was a thread about this on the SDU forums, Reece has "apparently" put a tube front end on his T51R powered GTR, and that run was done shutting down because his bonnet flew off.

Croydon's have sold there car to someone in the U.S. too, "apparently".

It's all hearsay. Nothing official. It all happened at an unofficial test 'n tune, with too many stupid variables like bonnets flying up mid-run and the rest.

And the car was the Heat Treatments GTR.

They cut the front of the chassis off and replace it with a tube frame... said car ceases to be a "factory" car.

its not tube framed, its just got a new airshift tranny and a few other tweaks. it ran a 8.40 at the last of our IDrag import battles.

So whats the benefit of a tube frame front end?

I would assume weight reduction but is there anything else?

Here is a pic of the car. Can't find any articles online though sorry. Apparently the 8.402 was done at the V8 nationals.
