Hi all, I finally purchased R32 (GT-R) after a long search.

I'm using it for daily drive and these are some issues that I'm facing now.

-Headlights (facing too low and no highbeams working - I tried adjusting the height but not working)

:I think I need to a) buy another set of headlights b)install HID.

If i install HID on existing headlight, it doesn't fix the lights facing low, does it?

Recommendation? Any quick fix for highbeams?

-Water spray not working on front windscreen

:I filled up the water but I don't get water spray at all. (works on rear window only)

Is this well known problem in R32? Any quick fix?

-Bucker seats + 18"rims with semi slick tyers all around + Upgrade TEIN suspensions

:I want to change this car to be able to drive daily.

which of these makes most this car not suitable to road?

I still can't believe I own R32 finally but I wish this car to be little more to road use.

Please help.

Change the semi slicks to a nice street tyre and they will last longer.

Check all fuses for the washers and high beams.

Yes the adjusters can play up on the headlight, and from factory the r32 headlights suck. I fitted HID kit to mine and am impressed with them now

If you want to make it comfortable for street drive, get rid of the tein stuff, its far too harsh for the roads in sydney. Get some Kuhmo ku31 tyres. Nice and cheap and will last you. Feds 595's are also a nice tyre. Don't overlook Maxxis MA-V1's. Tyres won't make a difference for comfort but at 18" you will be running a low profile which will have its effect on road feel. An option is to get smaller wheels with a larger profile(my brothers 18" are 35 or 30, my 17's are 45). You will notice a difference with that setup(wheels/suspension).

I think the little water pump may have seized up. If it was empty to begin with, these parts are about 22 years old, it may have corroded internals.

Get the bucket seats out and find some r32 GTR seats.

Thanks for the tips, guys.

- HID: I read other articles saying I need to change the headlight units to N1 or something. (I want to drive at night time! help!)

- Seats: I will get original seats ASAP, thanks.

- Tyres: I will get street tyres as recommended, thanks.

- Wheels: This car has big break and the original wheels won't fit. (I love original wheels but I need to change break as well..money money)

- Suspensions: Do i need a aftermarket suspensions to hold 18" wheels? or can I install the original one back?

Cheers.

If the car is PURELY a daily car and you do want to remove the brakes and you have a big brake kit, you can make some pretty good money selling that kit which you can use to buy original wheels and brakes and potentially have money left over. I think brakes are a good thing though. I have no idea about the R32 headlight but I don't think its necessary to buy the N1 headlights to fit HID's. HID's are nothing special. What ever size globe your car fits, get the same size in 35w 4700k(or 6500 if you want the blue look) and it should plug straight in.

Any suspension will hold the wheels onto that car(unless that car has some crazy work done on it to the suspension and the alike). I think you should steer very clear of the original units. They are really old parts and you won't find a good set. Get a replacement from Bilstein if you can source them. Stock ones will be too soft for their age.

Also if your highbeams aren't working, you need to check if its the highbeam element in the globe or a fuse/wiring issue. If its a fuse/wiring issue, fitting in HID's will NOT fix the problem. If the globe is gone, then yes the HID's will be the fix. Then again in the 2 - 3 years owning my skyline, Ive used my highbeams twice.

Thanks again.

I got a quote on types from kumho and there were affordable than others, but I may keep these semi slick tyres for a while.

I started looking for R32 headlights on ebay and websites but no luck yet. I may contact some of imports dealers to get used ones.

I expected few dramas when buying such a aged car but it's never too easy to accept when it comes to the reality.

Cheers.

One more question : Can I only install HID kits to the project headlights only? how do you tell if it's projection headlights then?

Since my headlights adjuster not working, can HID kits fix this issue? or should I get good 2nd hand headlights first from eBay?

If your headlight adjusters are not working 9 times out of 10 it will be plastic/nylon cog on the inside of the adjustor. You can sometimes pick up this part by itself from some jap wreckers if they have broken lights floating around the place. Just putting HID's in won't fix anything besides adding more light to road. Also if your running Projector headlights you would only put the HID's in the projector lens which is your low beam.

Here is a picture of a broken adjustor from a R32 light. They are held in with 2 screws. There is 4 adjustors per set of lights.

Thanks for the photo.

I started searching on the internet for adjusters if anyone selling.

And I rang importers to see if they can replace for me. (hopefully they don't charge me much. lol)

I will post some results after the work done.

Just little update in case someone might have similiar questions:

- Headlights : I took it to mechanic (Japanes guy) and he took entire light out and adjusted manually. (light position fixed but still dark)

- bucket seats : I picked up the original seats from the previous owner and going to install this week. (driver seat has minor damage on frame)

- suspensions : The mechanic suggested me to get the 2nd hand original suspension but it's bit costy..so still thinking

- Muffler : Bit noisy and very much oil smell. I'm thinking to change the current 3" muffler to oval type, any suggestions?

- Clutch : I'm having so much trouble drving this daily (heavy duty installed) and I'm looking for daily driving clutch, any suggestions?

n1 headlights are an improvement to the projector type imho, although to get the best benefit when driving at night, get some decent globes in there around the 4000k to 5000k range, i have phillips nightvision iirc

does your tein allow dampner adjustment at all, might be adjust it a little

how bad is the HD clutch, are you stalling when moving from standing start? as for the money to change to daily, you might find u wear it out/slip and need to upgrade

I got a qoute on Sunbury Clutch and am waiting on another one.

I am definately stalling if i'm on slope (very embarrassing as a GTR driver!!) and even finding hard to start the 1st gear many times.

Either taking driving lesson from street racer or replacing it to normal one I guess.

Well, I will be still struggling with normal clutch on slope but I cannot give up on my dream car so easily.

Wish me a luck.

is it just a heavy duty clutch or a brass button or something? I have a heavy duty in my R32 GTS-T and its not too bad but it did have a brass button when I got that was a pain. If worse comes to worse just treat a slope like a hill start with your trusty handbrake.

Stick with it - it took me 2 yrs to get my R32 to where I want it & its worth every minute & dollar - there are plenty of parts on ebay or online - & the forums are a definite help with any problems that come your way - google /ebay & me built a skyline
