34's seem to make a ridiculous amount of noise with pods on anyway, mine howled at 40km/h when i had one on; ultimately i swapped it back.

I've noticed that people that are dead serious about getting more air do use a pod; but they extend the hose and bring it right round to the front of the car infront of the radiator. I'd consider doing this; but i'm not sure it's possible without drilling big holes near your headlight and can't find anything relating to us anyway. I would wonder about effect of the filter getting wet out the front too.

Shattered I wasted money on one... Wow it Seems to be an urban myth that people have taken to heart... I've read

tweak guides that promise 10-15 kw boosts and both my uncles that race cars were talking what a difference they make.

Unless being out in the wind under real conditions can somehow make a difference to the test; i would say that myth video

makes 90% of us with modified cars idiots.

At least; it was good to know the stock box does not restrict in any way. Perhaps those asians in white coats

that designed the things sort of knew what they were doing?

The airboxes are a good design, you see plenty of powerful cars running stock airboxes..... The only reason i ran a pod and custom airbox was due to the way the piping was routed but i have made it look as stock as possible....

For performance advantages there are better ways ;)

PLUS stock airboxes avoid potential defects too AND have the intake snorkal, but they fetch good coin if you sell them.....

On that note, i have a K&N pod off my 34 i can sell him cheap if he goes down that path, but probably better he doesnt!

Don't take it too bad, in the end it is just an air filter, it's not going to make or break your setup.

Yeah after watching it I was glad I only spent $50 on my pod

Rather then getting an apexi for $130

Still going to talk him into getting a highflow pannel filter.

I am sure they would help at higher power levels

The difference between a cheap pod and an 'expensive' pod isn't the power they make, it's the quality of the filter. As I mentioned above, the things are just air filters. You're not paying x amount for y amount of power. I've seen a few 3A Racing and some other cheap brands literally disintegrate under boost, and when you pull the pod off you can find little pieces of filter element in the intake pipe.

That said, I've seen the same thing happen to HKS pod filters, but they are a rubbish design anyway.

whats he want a pod for? induction noise?

Look at the car there testing it on, stock airboxes are restrictive if your trying to pushing past the factory pipe limits...there vids are pointless, especially the one about "Will BOV's make more power"...f**king retards lol..

But see again its not all about more power, having denser air would also result in less pinging which means its healthier for the engine, Ive noticed my car used to get abit of knock in 2nd gear with just the pod, once I made a enclosure and got a pipe from the bumper to the box theres not as much noticable ping.

Your car must be tuned right on the edge then, surely. I mean the air flow meter is a heat element, it takes temperature into account when it calculates air density, so any heat soak you are getting from the pod shouldn't cause knock, it will just mean less power.
