Righto, so you know my situation better than I do.

So, you've had four phones in 16 months. Why? I await your back peddling and BS excuses.

We have about 15 people with work provided phones. Since I started there we have gone from 3's to 4's. In total at least 10 of the 30 odd phones have shit themselves.

Apples are notorious for being utter shit. That's simply fact. We also have 9 iPads, two of which have died (although one was the GMs personal device) and eight iMacs, two of which have also died (we have 26 PCs and 9 laptops, one of which had the HDD die). That's in just over two years (since I started). And try all you might to deny what I say as truth, but I'm the poor schmuck who has to set these pieces of shit up everytime one dies.

You want to know how many HTCs I've been through in the past two years? Two. My original Desire, which my wife still uses (she's since passed her two year old Wildfire onto her mum) and my Velocity which I upgraded to in the release week. Neither have died.

It's great you find the iOS so fantastic. But seeing as you find Android a little too complex, I'm not surprised. Seriously, if Android confuses you then you need to make sure you have a cork on the end of your fork so you don't take out an eye when trying to eat your dinner after you mum has cut it up for you.

Ok, here is why I've had 4 iPhones...

I had one with Telstra, the plan was shit so I gave it to my mother and got another one on Optus.

If you can count, that's two so far. In a rush, I stupidly left the Optus phone on the roof of my car and it got ran over multiple times. When I found it on the road an hour later, it still worked.

The third one I got from apple which was a refurb to replace the one that was ran over. About a week later, Optus rang me and said I could upgrade to a 4S for free if I extended my contract. I've been happy with Optus due to their value (although I'll concede that Telstra has superior service), so I chose to extend the plan and got the 4S.

That 4S brings me to my fourth iPhone and the refurb from apple was sold.

I dropped every single one multiple times, once my gf grabbed me a pair of shorts off the table that I'd put my phone on and she flung the phone across a room and it smacked onto a tile floor, no damage.

The only damage on any of my phones (apart from the one that got ran over) has been around the silver band where it has been chipped from concrete.

I never said android was complex, I said it wasn't seamless and didn't work as well or feel as polished as iOS.

PC's die and get slower, my Mrs' mac book pro has been going hard for years without a drama. I don't have a mac so I'm not a fanboy, I just know how well they work.

I'm telling you my iPhone doesn't have a broken screen. Your argument is invalid.

Hahaha...I was going to point out the folly of his post, but was on my phone at the time and CBFed.

Google "Android broken screen" and get a bunch of apps to prank people with to make them think their screen is broken.

Repeat process with "iphone broken screen" and see hundreds of pictures and posts of people complaining about their broken iphone screen.

Nice own goal there, SFSC.

Im not invested either way in this argument, because i think that both apple and samsung produce shit quality products. Its only really Google who have impressed with android

If and when they turn their Motorola handset into something competitive, i think we're all going to see just how integral do our daily lives these things will be

Googles move into investing in those glasses they told us about last year may very well kill the handset all together

How fekin' sweet would those glasses be

I'm really keen to see the Nokia Win8 phones myself.

I was a huge Nokia fanboi until it became obvious Symbian had been left behind. I've spent a bit of time on the pre-release Win 8 and I reckon it's got real potential.

Dunno enough about the new Nokia to get too pumped about it

It's more than likely ill be running windows 8 at home pretty soon, makes sense to tie that in with a windows 8 phone too

Was merely pointing out that claiming no android screens had ever been broken was retarded.

Also, I wonder if that's because apple have been selling the same product with refreshes annually since 2007? Compared to the eleventy billion varieties of android..

And at what point did anyone claim such a thing?

You f**ked up. That's all there is. And it was a funny f**k up cause it completely destroyed your claim that iPhones are hardy and Android are susceptible to breaking just as much.

Apple holds about 18% of the smartphone market. Android around 70%.

My point was, you'd have to do a search for every model of android, rather than just one search for iPhone..

Neither is better that the other, they all use the same glass!

One is obviously better because it isn't notorious for smashing it's screen.

I love coming back to see how this thread is going.

It always brings the entertainment.

On a serious note i will also be looking for a windows 8 based phone for my next one when my contract runs out in February.

I do not know a single iPhone user who has not had the screen shatter on them. I do not know a single Android user who has had the screen shatter on them.

You did. And your figures are wrong.

More fail....

The Asian market is heavily Android biased and is as big if not bigger than the US market.

And I said I do not know a single iPhone user who has not had the screen shatter. To break that down for you it means out of all the people I know who haved owned an iPhone, every single one of them has smashed a screen at some stage. it does not mean evey person in the world who owns an iPhone has had the screen shatter.

One concession I will give, I'm talking about my immediate friends/family. I'm not counting acquaintances or work colleagues.

What else ya got?

Out of my 4 iPhones no screens broken.

With one of my 3 galaxy s 2's the screen shattered from in cabin pressure when catching a plane from bris to Sydney. Samsung not willing to cover it under warranty when it was in my suit jacket pocket not a back pocket and sat on or anything.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
