mad082
Is there no official update for it? On phone so can't check. But you could backup everything then go into settings, school down about phone, and the first option in there should be check for updates. Cowboy1600
Another iPhone eats shit. A 4s. Updated to iOS 6 and it's locked the phone solid. Do a hard reboot and nothing happens. Same thing happened to an iPhone belonging to one of the sales guys about 4 weeks ago. The phone is now a paper weight. The tally is now up to two since I started keeping count (so ignore the ~15 prior to that time). As yet no HTCs or Samsungs have broken and the office is split pretty close to 50/50 Apple vs the rest. Mostly not interested in games or widgets, just want to surf the net I was just given a HTC Velocity as a temporary phone and was told to get Ice cream sandwich for it ... Can anybody please tell me how i go about doing this? I would like to avoid the telstra store if possible, so i've come to youse guys first Go to Settings >> About Phone >> Software Updates and check for updates. If it's not yet on ICS it will do it OTA. And you don't need to back anything up before hand. Just fire it off and after about 5 minutes your phone will reboot and you'll be up to date. mad082
The .3 on the end is just the build version. I recently updated my galaxy s2 from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 via a OTA update, but to update it to 4.0.3 originally i had to plug it into the computer and use the samsung kies program Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/399395-are-you-a-pc-or-mac-user/page/13/#findComment-6558224 Share on other sites

Cowboy1600
I've got a Velocity on ICS and have no issues whatsoever. The only time I ever have very weak or no signal is when in in the elevator at work. Apart from that, I've never seen it without near full service. Hell, I even got service at my parents home which in rural NSW and a mobile wasteland. ctjet
if it came loaded with ICS there seems to be issues at all the update from 2.3.7 has shafted a lot of people and i'd like to avoid being shafted if possible Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/399395-are-you-a-pc-or-mac-user/page/13/#findComment-6559029 Share on other sites

mad082
the best way to avoid any issues after updating is to clear the cache afterwards. very few people do this, so they end up with bugs as there is still cache from before the update conflicting with updated firmware. as i said in an earlier post, i just updated to 4.0.4 on my galaxy s2. had a few issues with the phone freezing for the first few days. cleared the cache and it's been fine ever since. even runs faster than it did straight after the update.
