Juice Defender, in its simplest forms, turns off mobile data when the phone is locked. And re-connects it every 15 mins (or as you set it) to sync emails, IM's etc etc. It saves a hell of a lot of battery life if you dont need to receive emails or messages immediately.

If you get the uber version, it can learn where your WiFi locations are and automatically connect to them when your in the vicinity, and auto disconnect when you leave. Based on course mobile site locations.

Its pretty dam good, Have used it for a year or so now.

on the samsung galaxy s2 i deactivate data network mode, yet I'm still getting charged for downloads during that time. quite irritated cause by the time i realise whats happening I'm out of credit...

thinking of trying the new red bull mobile network...seems ok.

mrs has the same phone and she don't have it either...

but has only started within the last 2months... more so pissed about the dropout issue, connects then i load one page and when i reply to here or another site, connection has dropped and takes a good 5-10 mins before reconnecting.

And in reply to the actual topic of the thread...

Bought a macbook about a year or two ago to try it out at work.

Used it for about a year, got given a PC notebook from the company i work for.

Since then, never went back.

Depends on use as too which one you prefer/use imo.

That said, I will never buy a iPhone, they give you iAids

Posted these vids in another thread, but maybe some other users in here might get a kick out of it ;)

I bought an HP 13" Ultra book & as far as I can see it gets similar battery life (~5-8 hours per charge), has SSD + i5 & I paid just $610 for a display model (even brand new they are ~$900) compared to $1k+ Apple want to charge for their ultra books & gimme windows 7 over that Apple pos OS anyday.

Funny how I never had any major issue with any of my computers (now all running windows 7), 1 desktop for gaming and 3 laptops (1 gaming spec one, 1 old one for Uni & this ultrabook).

Only real issue I had was my asus gaming laptop had the GSOD issue, which wasn't a windows problem but a firmwire issue on the graphics chip (ATI 5870m) & a update custom firmwire fixed the issue.

& I just use some basic free A/V software with the default windows firewall, I found the people who always gets random virus (many family friends' computers) are those who just click on any random link without thinking (or don't know better) which in that case even the best security software isn't going to help, unless you restrict user access which will just cause them to rage at you saying that "you broke their computer" or "they can't do what they used to do"

^^ Exactly

i personally don't run any anti virus software, but i don't be clicking any links even if it looks like it comes from a friend

Aye, I don't run any form of security, and haven't done for a decade. I used to run Trend Micro Housecall every couple of months, but it never found anything so I don't even do that anymore.

i don't run any a/v or firewall software on my mac, still no harmful attacks.

mrs's toshi gets attacked at least once a week. run symantec on that but still its a shit fight.

i reiterate that's your problem

    • Thanks mate 👍 The car was brought into the UK by a USAF mechanic until he was stationed back to the US, one owner later I bought her back in 2009. Luckily the only corrosion was on the sill seams, so once taken back to metal and treated and sealed all ok, I then undersealed the car myself and check yearly and treat any corrosion which to be honest is zero. She's garaged most of the time and hardly ever driven in the rain, but as you say most are rotten unfortunately, I was lucky in finding her as she was and still is in excellent condition.
    • Stunning car.  Looks amazing!  You're in the UK?  How the hell do you stop your car rotting away beneath you?  British cars are the WORST I've ever seen in regards to rust.  Some of the cars SR Autobody have done are borderbeyond saving.
    • not a date code? or a foundry code?
    • I have up to date pics of the engine build and turbo conversion over on my instagram @skpro_jects if you want to take a deeper look.   Basically the exhaust manifold is straight bolt on and the ports match (they arent any smaller than a 25 or 26 head).    the intake ports are different shape so the 20/25det manifold will bolt up but wont match properly or seal. You will need to port match using the 25det gasket as a stencil. Personally i ran the entire stock 20neo intake setup and have configured the swirl valves and torque valve to work based on my custom parameters to help with off boost response and spool. But this is using a standalone aem v2 ecu. The stock 20det ecu wont be able to control them.
    • Hi. a little later but if the topic is here. So...the exhaust is the same and you can use 25/Turbo or any aftermarket? What about intake side? Is it too "plug n play" or? (i do not remember for 100% but i think that one intake to head gasket was little bit different than on the RB25 - i bought gasket kit way back) I know that even if it "plug" those butterfly swirls would cause ECU to be confused or?   Just asking for the info 🙂 and of course the RB25 things are easier to come by
