scotty nm35
Its fairly complicated as you need to remove the trans sump and valve body which have around a hundred bolts holding them in. They all need to go back together in the same hole too. Read the instructions when you get the kit and make the decision then, if it seems too complicated get Craig (jetwreck) to do it, or someone local if you aren't in Sydney. It will cost a lot more if you get it wrong... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/399840-transgo-shift-kit/#findComment-6352006 Share on other sites
slippylotion
If your comfortable using spanners it's not that hard at all. One of the easier major upgrades ive done to any of my cars. When I did mine I found it to be quite easy. Just take your time, mark everything you remove and best to have a mate help out so you can double check everything you do. No special tricks involved, just read the instructions and it's nice and easy. Then you have the satisfaction that you did it yourself. sheldon2369
A lot. You'll find yourself changing gears much quicker, and a lot more responsively and when you plant your foot the changes will be very sharp and you'll get a little chirp from 1 - 2, sometimes 2 - 3, but in the wet it's anything but a chirp. When your foots not planted its normal gear changes, but its a very noticable upgrade when you want it to be. Personally I wouldn't recommend installing it yourself. But i'd definitiy recommend getting one. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/399840-transgo-shift-kit/#findComment-6352221 Share on other sites
T4NK
I had mine installed and a oil change with nissan matic J at my local auto shop for $300, cost me $100 labour to have it put in and i bought mine off ebays was $300 from the USA something like that, but once it was in i get wheel spin till i hit 3rd, it goes off, cherps the tyres all the way to 5th if ur nailing it to the redline on every gear shifts are really solid and fast, but one bad thing i noticed is down shifting, mine does not like it so much gives a noise sometimes (probs me shifting down at wrong times) but other then that its mint. Magic
I'm interested, although I'm in Perth. What comes in the kit? The Transgo website is hard to get around, but I think the Transgo Reprogramming Kit is what I need. Also if this kit is installed is it neccessary to upgrade the valve body al la MV Automotives? scotty nm35
The Transgo kit IS the valve body upgrade. It is just a few valves and springs to install into your stock valve body, no rocket science involved. Magic
Sweet put me tentatively down for now. There's a WA authorised distributor according to the Transgo website but their emails are bouncing back. I'll try calling them today to see if they have it in stock as it might be cheaper for me. I'll let you know tonight whether I'll grab one a part of the group buy or not. Yeh the shop i had it done in is not just any mechanic, it was an auto transmission specialist all they do is service auto's and also the RE5 box thats in the V35 is also in a few other nissans so its not a 1 of a kind and they are in cars sold in AUS so they do have experence working with them.
