I've always used K&N filters on all my cars for years and never had a problem. Just don't drown it oil.

Same here, but after all the AFM failures I've gone to a dry cotton filter.

Checked my AFM, and it was perfectly clean, but I don't go bezerk with the oil either.

No one said that. A proper CAI setup, regardless of pod or panel, is always going to flow better than a standard airbox.
