My car only took 2 weeks to get complied.

Came to australia on 4th April, but for some reason, the compliance shop didnt get the car until the 15th. They rang me earlier this week and told me the car is ready to go (just waiting for some documents).

Assuming i get the car within the next 2 weeks, the whole process will have taken 3.5 months. Import approval and compliance plates were all done while the car was waiting for the boat in japan...

Guess im one of the lucky ones

Just waiting for some documents.

This is what I understand the big wait to be. It took this complier in brissy a over a month before he even looked at my GTR, so it sat in his workshop the whole time. He over did himself with his work, so he had alot of cars to do. It took him apparently less than a week to comply the car but another big wait seems to be the the plates/approval. I am not a complier so i don't know everything, but I understand that they once they comply the car they compiel all there emission data and proof of compliance and send it to SEVS and then they send the approval and plates???? and this takes up to 5 weeks i have been told by the complier. So all my delays add up and then you have a massive one at the end.

I am looking for GTR now. I hope I don't have much trouble. its going to be an 89 or 90.

I had to put my plates in storage yesterday when I sold my car and have come to the realisation "GOVERNMENTS HATE TREES!"

the amount of paperwork it takes to import a car is bad. the guy said I have to show him a hell of alot of paperwork to get one of "those" registered and to get my plates for it.

I say less paperwork more driving.

My car got here last Novemeber and has been sitting here since! It's down at the workshop at the moment getting complied but has been held up 3 weeks as they needed to test the headlight (I sent it in with halogens). Waiting is whats it's all about with DOTARS but after my 33 I'm used to it. Use the time wisley and BUY AS MANY MODS AS YOU CAN :P:D It's the only way I keep sane.

well it has all gone through. after nearly three months of trouble and more money than i expected the gtr is complied and ready to go. i'll get a road worthy and then it'll be off to the mechanics to get the mods put back on and she'll be all go. hopefully it'll get picked up friday and i'll go to rocky and get it on the weekend. then the fun begin's. If anyone is still keen on importing just keep in mind with the new system it'll take a while.

The saying didn't really go like this, But good things come to those who are forced to wait.

so is everyone having problems with 32's or is it 33's?

I have asked just jap and they are going to do the engineering/compliance on the 89 GTR I am still looking for and they said max 2weeks they will have it.

I'm playing it safew and getting everything done like a major overhaul, timing belt, water pump, gear box oil, brake flush..... I don't want anything to happen to it.

Mr R32 M-spec, the 15yo cars don't need to go thru sevs so you'll be fine for that, Blitz on here had a car engineered and regoed in 4 days.

Good idea getting every thoroughly checked when it arrives, 15 years is a long time for a performance car :D
