My Previous car was a VS V8 Manual with IRS.

225'50's with Lowered Bilstein Suspension.

That thing was an absolute pig to launch.

It would either bog down and be gutless as hell to 3000rpm then it would scream off other wise it would wheel spin and no matter how hard you tried you couldn't stop it in first. The only way was to back off the throttle totally and flatten it again.

I put it down to the gearing as first gear at 5500rpm would be around the 70km/h mark.

I jumped in to the skyline and it seemed to have a little more power when launching at high rev's with light throttle and it also would not wheel spin as much on the initial jump due to its shorter gearing.

For some reason the commodore if I wouldn't put my foot down with the launch it would bog down obviously BUT.. with the skyline the turbo spools and you don't have to put your foot down as quickly and get it perfect like the NA V8.

Believe me those V8 IRS Manual Commodores are cops to launch.

Wouldnt lowering the tyre pressure eventually slow the car down once its moving. ie once the car has been launched, the lower pressure would take kw away because more are needed to move the flatter wheel??????

Wouldnt leaving the tyres up allow the car to glide more easily towards a better 1/4 mile time  ... which is what we're all aiming for.
