Recently changed over to e85 from caltex.

currently using high flowed rb25 injectors + aeromotive fuel pump.

car has killed 4 injectors so far. replaced them with stock high flowed ones each time.

Had enough so got tune switched back to 98 pump tune last week and car is perfectly fine again.

anyone had this drama before?

are they not e85 compliant?

How much are they costing you? Have you not considered just getting some ID1000's? I realize that's not what you're asking, but if you want to run E85 and you're killing stock injectors doing it, why not just go tried and proven?

would it make u feel better if i said it cost me $100 per injector to highflow.. and the person charging the $100 really only cost them $10... still doesn't explain why the e85 is killing them..

do newer injectors have different design to the 19yr old rb25 injectors?

Aftermarket injectors are usually tested to run other fuels like race fuels and methanol..E85 is known to be somewhat corrosive like this as well.

I guess it's possible the stock ones haven't been tested for such things, times change as do fuels and fuel components to suit. I believe Injectors have changed quite a bit in the last 20years..update to something more modern and I doubt you will have any regrets..

yep its on the books, i just thought id test out the stock injectors and see how far they would go.

wasnt sure if i had a ecu fault or wiring or anything else.. why i wanted to know if anyone else has gone thru similar story.

I have been running stock hi-flowed injectors for around a year now on caltex E85 with no issues.. They are maxed so most likely be upgrading to some kind of 1000cc option soon. Who's doing the best price on the ID1000's these days?

When you say it kills them what exactly happens? does the car just run rough/miss?

u can get id1000 kits from states for around $950 rail n adapters etc.

yeh it killed 3 in cyclinder 2 then 1 in cyclinder 5 last week.

basically it runs fine... slowly gets worst.. slight miss on de cel and light accel.

then it will completey drop that cyclinder all together at any given time and wont come back and the injector will be dead. replace it with another hi flowed one and away i go again.

switched back to 98 tune 3 days ago done 75kms so far and drives perfect.

So on average how quickly is it killing them?? i find it hard to believe that they are failing due to corrosion inside of a week or two...

car had been tuned on eflex for roughly 2 months. within the last 2-3 weeks is when the first one played up. then it killed 3 within space of 1-2weeks. and i went to powerplay last weekend, and 1 injector i replaced on the friday, lasted me all weekend ( 900kms driving + 27psi ) then got home and it died the next day. then went to my tuner n got tune switched over 3 days ago.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
