Hi Guys,

Just a quick question for you. I understand that Japan enjoys better quality - higher RON fuel than us in Aus. My question is, if you go to a servo and just buy their equivelant of what we call "regular unleaded" what RON is it? Some people reckon that the lowest RON fuel in Japan is 100 RON - that seems a little high to me. I don't doubt that 100RON is available, but I just found it hard to believe that 100RON is the "regular" fuel. I guess my reall question is: what's the highest RON available from the pump AND what's the lowest RON available from the pump in Japan.

Thanks guys,

Richard

bit hard to answer your question as Japan doesn't use Ron or Ron+Mon/2 to measure fuel octane rating. They have their own JIS standard method to come up with the number, which is usually 100 octane for "hi-oku". Not sure about "regular" simply because they are not forced by law to display the octane numbers at the pumps.
