so you dont like its looks (i used to but oddly i have moved away from that stance..especially since i keep spotting gay unicorns making out in them) but they are reliable.

how is it dynamically? would you ever track it?

TT's are pretty much off the list anyway, only a new RS would be any good and not enough monies for those.

Yeh seems to handle nice, but I would prefer the Z just on looks. It does 7L/100Km and has a decent power lever.

Hay Pat, have you thought about the Mazda 3 MPS? Lots of torque through the front wheels might sound scary, but they've had a lot of good reviews. You can get them for around $40k drive away brand new.

also, you might find some good EOFY bargains at dealers, so shop around. They might be wanting to offload floor stock at very reduced prices (expect to be able to negotiate $4-6k off sticker prices if you haggle hard enough)

If you find a demo with a few hundred km on it, there's some good saving and even further haggling to be had. It's amazing how desperate some salesmen get when they see a serious buyer walk out the door.

yeah she doesnt want a hatch or anything as pedestrian looking as the Mazda, EOFY does make it tempting to look for something new-ish and in the colour etc she wants but seeing that the Z's drop from 70k new to 45k after only a year or so it still makes 2nd hand a superior option.

Also we jumped in a few G37's and even though she did see a WRX (03, an 05 and an 07) a few HSV's and a Jeep and liked them all she absolutely fell. In. Love with the Skyline!

A bordeux 370Z would still be amazing but she is pretty keen on the G37 so i just facebooked Iron chef about importing one in the spec she wants as most of the ones on the market are auto or the wrong colour etc.

What can i say, she really wants something in purple..

no-ones perfect..

The G37s are hot. The CVTs can be a touch fragile though, I think, and they are silly expensive to replace.

I don't think you would ever want to track one.

Black > all other colours.

yeah im not sure she would want to track her 'baby', expecially after the carnage she witnessed at EC yesterday..it could still be fun on some winding back country roads or perfect for the odd SAU cruise though!

(ps agree re black or maybe a very dark midnight purple but it aint my dollars, whaddya gonna do)

she wants to fly to VIC to check this one out, is anyone nearby who can look for me?

lol didnt think so

for some reason she doesnt like the TE37 rims, im doing my best to find a modded one though. I have been trawling the Z forums and apparently without some basic exhaust and supercharger mods these things arent very quick in a straight line :(

There are a few SAUers from that side. I can go take a squizz after work one day if no one else puts their hand up.

I reckon she'll change her mind re the wheels once she sees them. If not, I'll take em as a fee for my inspection service ;) They'd look t!ts on my Stag!

As for "quickness" it's all relative really. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't keep up with an R33/34/Rex/SS/XR8 so on and so forth.

EDIT: on second look, the wheels, suspension and exhaust are not included in the sale. I'd defo negotiate the inclusion -"$42k with extras, have cash, will buy" kinda thing.

yeah i PM'ed the guy and im sure with a little haggling and a little more time with it sitting in his driveway the extras can be thrown in at the price listed, thanks for putting your hand up. Really didnt expect anyone to go to all the trouble but that would be amazing!

haha and yeah im sure we can work something out re the rims if you really want them.

i certainly dont think the photos do them any justice either..

a bit?

from what i am reading on performance forums the Oz allocation is already sold out, at least of the GT's which are the only ones you would consider. A six month or longer wait for the spec she would want and a car with half the power/middling looks?

no fanx

Black > all other colours.

I thought the G37 are conventional autos. I think the V35 3.5L sedan had a CVT which would just stop working.

Highly possible. I'm not completely across the V/G series cars. I've just read around here that the CVTs are hella fragile and retardedly expensive.

    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
    • A Brumby would probably fit a big metal toolbox in the back... this is how it begins
    • Picked up a new OEM boot seal for the MX5 today as the old one got ripped a bit by me being a idiot by seeing if I could fit a large metal tool box in it, it didn't fit, and ripped the seal with the corner of the tool box I am still waiting on time to get the cams and new balancer installed, as well as the repairs to the boot Time will not be an issue soon though
