A shift kits a mod which lets u hold on to gears longer?

well i think ill be using a gt35r but only boost it to achieve 300-350 rwhp (so baby boost for such turbo) so u think id need a stall converter? whats it for anyway? i know its like a clutch but works on fluid contact but dont understand why it would need a bigger stall converter? =/

AFAIK a shift kit makes the gear change quicker (and rougher) and this reduces wear. Use synthetic ATF - its much tougher than non-synthetic. Break down of the ATF (particularly due to high temperature) is a big problem. ATF handles high temperature much better. A trans fluid cooler will be worthwhile if you're cooking the fluid.

The stall converter mod is to make it stall (ie lock up) at a higher rpm. This will suit a more laggy turbo as it will help get it on boost.

Depnds on what you are gonna do.

Drag? Track? Day-to-day driving?

No point getting a high stall if you are not going to go drag racing IMHO.

As a start

- Install a bigger trans cooler.

- Full flush of the trans (drop the pan), upgrade to Transmax Z or similar fully synthetic fluid. While you are at it, might as well change the trans filter too.
