I'd go a deatschwerks fuel pump over a walbro... any day.

Don't use efi hose for e85- you need something teflon lined/rated for alcohol.

For the extra money, I still choose ID injectors over the standard bosch items.

He doesnt need teflon or braided hose the efi hose is fine many ppl are running it without problem. Ive got the stock hoses for last 2 yeArs e85 no problem. Its only worth going teflon if your got a hatch boot and smell is an issue or he has extra coin but it is not a necessity.

I've seen the deatschwerks pumps, but why go that over a walbro?

And I've been told by a few people I need new lines, and then by a few I don't... Hmmmm

Yeah at the moment I'm leaning towards just going id1000's

Definitely go with the Bosch 1000's.

The Deatschwerks is well worth the extra $60. Make sure its hard wired with decent cable as they draw 15-20 amps.

Your lines will be fine for years, if they ever go hard and brittle its time to swap them or upgrade to Teflon.

Im going that walbro 400lph E85 pump. The current walbro 255lph I have has been faultless for the 7 yrs it's been in, even ran it with E85 for nearly a year with no problems. I just need more fuel now to keep it safe.

the 400lph cannot tolerate E85.. there are some components in the pump that will wear with e85.. hence why they brought out the 416lph.. im trying to find somewhere local that may have it. perhaps Aznu?

Well I've only seen it listed as 400+lph, so splitting hairs. The part number you/I want ends in 267 for the E85 approved version. Cheapest I've found so far is eBay US for about $260 delivered but I haven't finished searching yet.

Did you see the result on NS.com. A guy just made 295rwkw on 18.5psi with the tdo6sl2-20g 8cm on E85.

Hi Gulrez,

Thank you for your interest in our new 400lph high performance pump. Unfortunately, it is not rated for use in E85. It’s not to say that it won’t work, but we have not validated it in E85 and there are components inside the pump that are not properly protected against the harsh conditions that E85 causes. We haven’t heard of any issues with the pump, but I simply cannot recommend the use of it in your application at this time.

On a side note, we do have an E85 version that we are hoping to launch in the first quarter of next year that should flow beyond 400lph. We’ll have marketing data and flow specifications out to the websites and blogs 3-4 months from now. More to follow soon on this.

Best of luck and let me know if you have any additional questions!

Regards,

Kelly Christians

thats from Walbro itself. there would have been no reason for them to bring out a 416lph pump for e85 if the 400lph would work just aswell..

    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
    • Thanks Paul I reached out to Autotainment but they no longer work on JDM cars as the guy who used to do the work moved on and is no longer doing that kind of work. I am talking with Level Up Audio though.
