I too, would never let anyone inspect my car at my house (unless it's a friend, or acquaintance).

There really is absolutely no reason for them to know where I live.

Anyway, it's much better to meet at a workshop/mechanics with a hoist so that the buyer can inspect the car properly. I can't believe that so many people purchase cars without even looking under them where the most telltale signs of wear, damage and fatigue lie.

rs73, he wasnt an expert, he was buying the car for his son as a birthday present  he was a very nice older guy sounded really genuine, and i didnt have time to meet him somewhere else so in the end i just gave him my address..

but i have never shown any car im selling to someone at my home address before, they dont need to know where i live. besides, if they think they do need to know, its probably for the wrong reasons :)

i think the deciding factor for my buyer was the colour, its a series 2 red colour.. its quite rare and different from the series 1 wine red colour.

as merli has brought up, i was really surprised that they didnt even have a peek under the car, nor drive it before he handed over the $$.

i was happy, but i felt like telling him he should watch out when buying these cars because at the rate he was going, i could have sold him a shitter and he wouldnt have known.

The only reason in selling it is because i have to have a knee reconstruction and i will be off work for over 2 months so i wont be able to afford my repayments. So this is going to become a pain in the ass im guessing.

Good luck with your knee reconstruction. I had mine done back in 1999 due to a soccer injury. I spent the night recovering from the operation and when home the next day and got around on crutches. I still attended Uni.

My operation wasnt a complete sucess - I dont have feeling now in my right shin because they must have cut a nerve. I dont trust my right knee at all now, after 10+ years of playing soccer I cant play again.

Why do you need to take 2 months off work? Do you do manual labour?

Back on subject. I'm selling my skyline too. I had a half-ass attempt at selling it here on the skylines forum just after Dundan put his up for sale. Now i've got more serious and now its listed on a car yards website. I dont need/really want to sell it so im not fussed if it sells quickly or not at all.

I bought another car last week as there has been interest from the car yard at $2.5k more than i've listed the car for here.

exactly....interesting isn't it.....

Interesting pt of view... might worth considering when it's time selling my baby :)

I might show the car at a known mechanic place, easier also if they wanna see the underneath of the car, as I won't be selling them a dodgy one...

Sorry a bit off topic... What's the S2 red colour is, it's not quite wine red isn't it?

Do you remember the paintcode is? I think on S1 the wine red is coded as AN

Yeah im a mechanic and unfortunatly its not a standard knee reconstruction, its a little more involved. So unfortunatly i dont have any other way around it and have to sell the skyline. I might have to upgrade to a GTR once im back on my feet, thats if i ever sell this damn thing.

im sure you will sell it, its just a matter of time, and you have to remember to be realistic in relation to price. i think this is the single factor that really affects how long it will take to sell your car.

if the price is right, then its only a matter of time before someone with the money and will comes to get it.

if the price is wrong, u will definetly be stuck with it for a longg time.

a friend mentioned to me the other day, u should advertise it for very near to what your lowest price would be, dont bother sticking thousands on top or you will have trouble selling it, and i would agree with that, i advertised my car for 22500 in the trading post and sold for $22000.

how much did u advertise for in the trading post?

This is probably a laughable suggestion, really, but it's worth a try if you're really stuck income-wise and can't offload the car - have you considered speaking to your bank and asking them for a two month break on the payments to allow you to recover from this operation?

I would imagine (though of course we're talking about a pretty big bunch of pricks here) that if your payment history is excellent and you can get them some paperwork from doctors etc., they might be willing to help you out. If you sell the car in the mean time, sweet, the bank still gets their money, if you don't, you won't have to pay while you're off your feet...

It took me 3 and a bit weeks to sell my 32GTST. longer then I thought but I had to settle for less then what I wanted. i lost a lot of money but I noticed that imports are harder to sell. I have no plans to sell my next for a long while. so I only have to sell the dato for a few hundred bucks which should be easy when the next one comes in later this yr, good runabout

just wondering why you guys dont want to give your address's?

i dunno every car i looked at when i bought my car (a peugoet 306) *yes i know gay as but it was before i was into cars* i saw at peoples houses..

i plan on getting a r33 gtst in a year, ill have saved over 10 grand and ill sell my car for around 10 grand.. so hopefully planning ot pick up a black one... 1996/1997 for about $20 grand

so if any of you guys still wanting to sell round this time next year

    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
    • Hi everyone! I’m the new owner of a 1996 R33 GTS-T, I’ve purchased this car over from Queensland and brought it to Western Australia and I’ve found that there is a hole cut out in the engine bay for the FMIC that enters into the wheel well (fender liners are in the boot). For anyone that has had to get their car over the PITS here, will this be a major issue?
    • Yeah I've spotted this one too, whenever it's lotto superdraw week and I'm browsing car sales dot com for my new ride They must be dreaming, maybe it's worth 150k for the link to Brock?
    • 100% accurate!  We are a pack of know it alls....  But, I bet people go to you when they have a problem! I've been on a bit of a clean up rampage too over the past month!  I've thrown more shit in the bin over the past 2 weeks than I have in the past 3 years combined! Anyway, it's all good fun being different! My wife sometimes does not agree!
    • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc.   It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things.   Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing"   As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things.   It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first.   There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one.   However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
