exact figure are only 100 aussie spec r32 gtr's were imported. $107000 ($114000 on road) a house in the inner west was $150 to $200k!!!!

so if u can find an oz unmolested version expect to pay a tad more then $20k, so grey import are reasonably priced id say considering i picked one up for that price lol.

cheers

lol.. except there were 40,000 or so JDM cars made, and 100 ADMs. So I can't say you'd base your JDM value on the ADMs.

Real shock comes when you have a look into some of the prices in Japan for clean, original R32s. The collector market is well and truly alive over there.

Would the Japanese be interested in an ADM?? From there point of veiw a standard 91 model with different tail lights and indicators (and yes I know theres more than that and I would like to own one but on face value..). Although to have something different it may be worth there while, but not sure they would pay the price premuim to do so when they have so many more to choose from, such as Vspecs, Nismos and N1s.

And to the op, yes 20k seems to be the going rate for a non time bomb 32 GT-R. Add a bit more for a Vspec. And a bit less for tired early models.

for anyone whos interested a new 300zx was around $160000 new

Where was that price??

To the best of my knowledge the most expensive 300zx's (last gen) were around $50k in the USA.

Their price when converted from yen would be similar in Japan. Even in a place like Aus with all the taxes, you wouldn't get a $100k mark-up.

The 300zx was not the flagship car for Nissan ever, so it would never be priced above a GTR.

by maintaining a 32/33/34? whats so expensive?

I don't understand by expensive. tie rod ends are what? 30$/corner, so are rack ends, and bushes? what? 1k to replace the entire car. engine/gbox oil?

unless tracking the car, why do you need 100$ oils?

and gbox oil, its not like you need to change them every 10k km

so, where's the cost? only 32's break pivot balls too.

people massively exaggerate their unreliability but you're really only scraping the tip of the iceberg when you are talking about bushes.

Hi Guys,

I just saw this post so I thought I would chime in..........

As an owner of both an ADM and JDM, both totally stock standard (including exhausts and radio cassette players etc) I can promise you the cars are worth every cent. I love my ADM so much I couldn't bare driving it in fear of some moron running up the back of me decimating the unique ADM feature.

When I came across a very stock JDM in Melbourne 4 months ago I couldn't help myself and had to have it. I feel as though I have the best of all worlds now. I have a nice ADM totally complete with original purchased documents and books etc. Plus a JDM that looks and drives very similar but one that I can really enjoy without being stressed about.

My JDM was what I call a great 10 footer....... The closer you got the sadder it looked. Anyway I made the decision to finish the project and end up with a car that looks good I can really enjoy. It's ended up costing me about $3K more than I hoped for but I really don't care. It's my hobby and I could be wasting money on a heap of other intangible rubbish.

I did a fair bit of research before buying the JDM and really struggled to find something under 18K as a starting point. The problem is, if you are a self confessed obsessive compulsive like I am, things like broken air-con vents, dash bubbles, marked steering wheels, ugly aftermarket radios simply are such an eyesore I just can't tolerate them. For example, to find a used R32 dash that doesn't have a bubble will cost you at least $300........ Then add 5 hrs labour to remove and fit. Unless your pretty switched on and know what you are doing then forget it. It's at least another $400.00 to fit it. There's $700+ just to fix a dash bubble. Add in some broken vests either before or after installation and there’s best part of a quick 1K gone.

If the OP wants one as a weekend toy as I do then go for it…. Fantastic fun car but as a daily driver…… I would be reluctant …. They are cop bait, car thieves love them and as risky as any 20+ year old car can be in regards to reliability.

My advise…….Buy yourself a $1,500.00 Toyota Corolla as a daily and preserve and enjoy your GT-R as a weekend Warrior!

Cheers,

Bob.

Source = Redbook

Not sure what year model your talking about but in 1991 the GT-R was $110.000+ on roads. Mine was sold for that price with 251 kms as a Demo.

Here is a screenprint of the 300ZX........

Japanese Prices on Release:

R32 GT-R - 4,450,000 Yen - Approx $56,000 A$'s

R33 GT-R - 4,805,000 Yen - Approx $60,550 A$'s

R34 GT-R - 4,998,000 Yen - Approx $63,000 A$'s

These prices are for the base models, not V Spec or N1's or Nismo models etc.... Fair to say they were half what they sold for or would have sold for here in Australia.

I think I've seen those prices before, are they accurate? I always thought GTR's were over the 100k mark (especially considering the 300ZX was 93K?)

If they are accurate, the R34 depreciation rate is amazing. 13 years on and still approx 50K today for a clean, unmolested vspec example in a popular colour.

    • I have a VALCON if anyone wants it, I have no idea why you'd want to have VVT specifically broken out of the ECU as opposed to running it off the FCON/whatever standalone you have.
