Hey benji,

Has extreme super ultra late braking as per your driving style ever sent you off into a field?

I mean come on how late can you brake with metal on metal brakes??

LOL

I havent driven the car since I took it for a drive when I got my full licence (based on advice from everyone).

My driving style always is extreme ultra super late braking.

Front brakes are fine, rear brakes are metal on metal. When I had my drive after I got my full licence I just relied on engine braking by downshifting early... and then quickly pressing the brakes firmly to pull up to a stop.

Wakefield RaceTrack

When I had my trackday on July 25th, The rear brakes became metal on metal in my last session, and naturally I just thought optimistically and assumed I was getting pretty severe brake fade and that my pads were just on the replace indicator (little metal shavings to warn you that your pads need to be replaced).

The rear end felt very unstable and very twitchy as the metal on metal brakes at the rear weren't grabbing evenly, and I really had to manhandle the car to keep it on the track. Goes to show how good the front brakes for the S15 are, considering I was still cannonballing down the straight at about 160-170kmh.

    • Sorry to reopen an old thread but I’ve been having the exact same feeling as you mentioned. I was tipping up my PS fluid today and noticed that while the car was on and stationary, the steering wheel shudders when I’m doing full lock. It wasn’t exactly on the full lock but maybe about 75% turned in one direction.    although, I also found out today that my power steering valve was broken by the previous owner and it was just glued together 😂 that glue had cracked again so it was leaking air. I’m not sure if that’s what caused it.
    • @GTSBoy so all bypassing would do is not raise my engine revs on a full lock?  otherwise it should work fine?
    • For real life ! 😅   Hows that guy at 1.25 min in thinks he's still a drifter !!! Geez it was so slippery most of the time
    • My new amp turned up on Monday, so I got stuck in and wired it up and made some brackets to mount it in next to the battery late last night to have it all back together for when my mate came over this morning.  Checked over the car this morning, went over some of the new settings that differ to the old G4+ and set the timing. Got her started up and went over the car to check for any leaks.  Found a small leak coming from the oil filter block. Made sure all the hoses were tightened and pulled a suspect 1/8npt bung out and resealed it. Will have to wait until we start it up next to confirm the leaks stopped.  We got the 8hp up to temp to do the oil fill, ran it through a couple of gears and got it all topped up. So good to see the wheels spinning!  Need to have a look at the flex sensor wiring as we're getting an error on it. Once that's sorted and I've got the interior back together I'll ship it down to my mates shop and get it run in on the dyno and start putting some km's on her!  20240713_104852.mp4 Snapchat-1633775783.mp4
    • Just join the 2x hoses together there, or at the other ends. You will lose the idle up, but it should be fine.
