are Varrstoen a brother of rota? im looking for rims of that nature myself but if there in that size there at damn near brand new price.

I think they are that sort of thing yeah! What style you looking at man? Evo can run some awesome offset and size! Being similar to GTR you should be able to find some cheaper deals!

Thanks man, when you back over this way again? Hows the beast going?

maybe in July for a weekend of snow, otherwise early november i'll be in floating around for 2 weeks.

Beast isnt going. Blew the front crank oil seal about a month ago and almost lost the engine. ..so it's currently sitting in the garage.

It seams to do 100kms on the dyno with no problems then as soon as it leaves the workshop...(and i'm talking within 20kms) ...bam something goes wrong. it's happened 3 times this year so far. I've had the car running since december and it's done 450kms....more then 300 of which is on the dyno.

To be honest...very over the car at the moment. I've got the parts to fix the latest problem...but the motivation just isn't there.

Dont give up mate! I honestly know how that feels! I have had a fair bit of bad luck but luckily i am on the up now and its starting too look positive!

It must be a WA thing :( Look at poor Hanaldo too?

Maybe give it a rest and then tackle it when your heart is back in it! BUT dont abandon it as you have gone too far and made it a real beast!

Let us know when you come over this way again!

But i will let you know when i'm back over...beers will need to be had.

Nice one man!!! Hope we see the GTR in anger soon....

Oh and Ant, is it Bowers you have been using? Gaz needs tie rods and an alignment and the car is low

~$1300 delivered. it was number 30 of 30 produced for a limited edition run.

Midori reportedly are running a special on ti struts atm - $800. Usually circa $1400.

My supplier is getting a heap nismo ti braces later this year - they will be ~$2000 (prob a little more now due to rising yen) delivered later this year if your interested.

did you just say gtr and cheap in the same sentence mat? hah

its a little bigger then standard gtr wheels, so doubt anyone would be running that size on there gtrs. as ants are 10.5 hah, why would anyone run 9.5

Varrstoen are probably one of the higher quality replica wheel brands out there. Ive read countless threads on them. They have a huge following in America compared to over here. Theyr most well known for the TE37 replicas.

looks good man, where did you move from??

Hey man, I moved from Port Macquarie. Im 19 and have just started uni here. Get my blacks soon and saw this R33 was a good enough deal that ticked all my boxes so I jumped on it (was after a grey, series 1, type M, good condition etc) (I have a thing for grey cars, all of my cars bar my first R31 have been grey).

Some of my other previous p plate rides ive had:

Would recommend one of these as a super cheap daily any day, in hindsight I wish I had kept it to this day. Incredible fuel economy for what it is and super comfy. Pretty fun with a 5 speed too and they sound pretty good with Pacemaker 4480 competition extractors (similar sound to what skylines with highmount manifolds make believe it or not).

Edited by Bennis

Hey Bennis, between me and Carmen we have the GTT, 4.2 TD Cruiser and a Golf GTI so along similar lines haha....

And yep Jarrad, 18x9.5 all round is the most common size and therefore cheaper in some cases than the staggered setups for the likes of a GTT.... What style you looking at? Plenty of places to look....

ha 9.5 isnt proper GTR size haha... although it is commonly used.

agree with jarrad, GTR and Cheap should never be used in the same sentence, unless it is to descirbe how they shouldnt be used in the same sentence like just now :)

and jarrad, you should just go 10.5 and have guard work! would be worth it you know. pretty sure that blue widebody evo 9 was running 11s, looks awesome!

thats a good price mate. would love to put my name down for a nismo one, just dont think i can set aside the coin atm (or later in the year if this house goes through)..

Lol ok cheap was bad wording BUT common was what I was getting at!!!

ha, yea 9.5s are common, and there not overly expensive though either so i kinda agree with you. but proper 10.5 decent wheels for gtrs cost an arm and a leg, ive spent over 10k on 2 setups ha!

rode the bike through your 'private road' little bridge section the other day where ive seen some of your vids..

so many potholes! so happy i wasnt in big bird

FYI, god_speed I think is soon to sell his Kansai strut brace off his VS2 Nur. Tis quite light.

Wheels on GTRs as you know go from 9" (OEM BBS), 9.5" (eg LMGT4 GT500), 10" (eg TE37), 10.5" (eg TE37 & LMGT4) - just clarifying

thanks for the tip!

ive heard alot of people trying to run 11" wide on 34Rs aswell? although mine tramlines enough with 10.5 and 295 rubber, could imagine only gets worse going bigger

Wow! You are mad :P The wheels on my car were on it when i got it! I spent $100 to sandblast and got the powdercoated free :P

HEY! That road is Private

It is bumpy, tried to scout a road for a cruise but no deal out there!

Plus i deactivated a few youtube vids to be smart :)

yea there are some good roads out there. on the bike on the weekend went out to gresfrod, then across to dungog, then across to storud and back down bucketts way to the terrace. some horrible bits of road, but some really fun parts too through the hills.. but better on the bike with little rubber on the road you can dodge the bad sections quite easy, but in the car with over a meter of rubber, pretty hard to miss them ha.

    • It makes you wonder, all these people starting to make a billet replacement head, I wonder if any have thought about trying to adapt tech from newer engines into them. You're already at the full design stage to make a billet head... Why not really spice it up and had some more modern tech into the mix too...
    • Connect all the plumbing up properly. The actual worst part about having the turbo unable to actually build boost, is you can and likely would over soon the turbo if you drove the car (free rev while stationary isnt likely to manage it).   If you do have an air leak as Duncan suggested, you'll have a bad time as the AFM will be saying different to reality.   As you have had the engine out, I'd go over all electrical connections again. If you have a consult cable, plug it in, and see what the ECU thinks is going on. Did you touch the timing belt? If so, double check your timing on the gears is correct AND put a timing light on it while it's idling and see what ignition setting you have. Is the AFM you've installed the one that was in the car previously? You said you replaced seals, what seals exactly? What have you had apart?   From memory when I had my RB25DET with factory throttle, there was two plugs the TPS plug on the loom could go to. One would leave the car running like shit, the other made it work, I think one plug on the TPS area was for something else (an option). It's too many years since I saw that part of the loom to remember properly though.   Is the car idling smooth (as smooth as an RB can)? Does it smell fuelled up?   I have a feeling either timing in timing belt is off, or a sensor isn't right.
    • Theres still skid pan and motokhana days up in QLD at least that are $100 or less. The ones that are ran as "driver training" less so, they're expensive, but just normal skid pan days like SAU ran are still low cost. And thats one of the places I learned to be a lariken, purely by asking for passenger rides, and how people were doing crazy things. Reese gave me plenty of pointers back in the day for skid pan! And yes Duncan, I will never forget your pointers for track work. Especially after Neil got out saying "I am NEVER getting in the car with him again!" 😛
    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
