looks so hectic mat! dont think mine will look that professional hah.

will still be good though :)

Haha thanks man! Only started so far! More to come... Compressor and airlines to go and possibly some A/C haha

AC is needed in mine...

its like an oven in the arvo.. so bad haha.

Yeah i am not sure if the cable to the shed is big enough to support it yet but a mate is a guru and is sussing it out for me :D We also need to hook up the pump to the 5000L water tank on the side of the shed that is just sitting there not being used!

Guys I need some help! The first time I drive my skyline at night and I've copped a defect :( they have written:

-uncovered pod

-height

-exhaust

-e85 fuel system

-modifications without an engineer cert

Firstly i don't even have an e85 system, I just have a surge tank and 044 in the boot, will this pass simply because it's not what they have written?

I have a airbox to replace the pod, and I have a new quieter exhaust solution that is waiting to be welded in.

Will it need engineers to pass? Or just fix airbox, exhaust and height? Anyone know what will happen with the fuel system? If anyone has stock 33 springs I can borrow it'll be amazing too. Pls help a brother out :( very devod

how much was the fine??

I believe any mechanic that does blue slips can pass you? so change it back and youll be fine? as for the fuel... just hope you got a good mechanic?

did you get an epa?

A very nice bloke named Adam Foster is helping me out. The cop didnt fine me, he was a nice man just doing his job I guess. Adams put on a standard airbox, legal exhaust and stock height springs that he has borrowed. The surge tank and fuel pump are removed so hopefully thats enough, I dont believe I got an EPA as that wasnt written on the defect notice.

Okay I need some advice on what could be wrong with my car

It has a misfire that is getting worse and need to get it sorted

Started out only doing it when hot and would drive along fine until it missed ( sounded like the traction control working) and would come up with the check eng light on the dash

Has gotten to the point now that it will miss or just feel slow all the time but the check eng light doesn't always come on

I'm thinking plugs or coil packs but want to know for sure before spending money needlessly

Any ideas

Or anyone got some spare NEO coil packs I can try?

Coil packs are notorious for failing in our cars man! I did my factory set at around 120000km from memory... The splitfires have been good since then!

If you need to borrow some to diagnose mine are pretty easy to get out... Car should be back at my place over Xmas i hope!

I had a missfire since at high boost but that was the coil plug loom that failed due to excessive heat (Plugs went all brittle and fell apart) so check that at the same time.

yep if you need a locomotive that needs fixing im the guy to call hahaha.

yeah but the kits are lean toos, not free standing. so gotta wait till lysaghts open on the 6th before I can sort anything.

pretty annoying

    • Meh, At 60 years old, I have been doing dumb stuff for much longer than you mate, I am the true King And unfortunately I cannot be a maroon, as I am not brownish red As for not getting ITB's, the plenum intake will apparently show typical gains across the board and increase induction noise a bit, but, have all over less dort than ITB's Cost difference for the extra ITB dorts was significant though, the total parts for the plenum set up is "around" $2kAUD plus shipping, the ITB's were $4kAUD plus shipping, I was contemplating really hard about paying the extra $2k for all of the dorts, but weirdly, some form of common sense, from listening to the platform experts prevailed  As for the NA mod hate by some, I've had a few boosted cars, with all their inherent issues, I'm now looking at simplicity and legalities for a street car, maybe I'm just getting old, and I'm quite happy to spend some of the kids inheritance, 5kw at a time 🤣 And think of all the money I'll be saving on consumables that something with boost needs, like engines, gearboxes, diffs, clutches,  tilt trays... etc. etc. etc. 🤪
    • Haha.  I wouldn't say I am either but I've definitely been around it plenty.  I'm guessing you know the dial in is basically to make a handicap to level the playing field between racers.  The car with the slower dial in goes first and in theory if they run their dial in time and the faster car also does then they cross the finish time if they also have exactly the same reaction time - if you go faster than the dial in them you lose, but if you are too slow there's a good chance the other person will get to the finish line first. I'm normally supporting other cars but they were all pretty dialled and were egging me on to race as well, here's one of the cars I tune (Starlet) which ran within like 1 hundredth of its dial in through the competition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inEBu-d9Gn4&t=69s
    • Where ever the fuel reg gets it reference is what I use to T into for map reference been a very long time so where it goes to plenum/runners I have no idea but never had issues.
    • What ecu? Same shop every time? Same ambient temperature? If timing is correct then pull plugs and see if lean or rich. Dyno can also read different if they have changed ramp rate or not set tacho/speed properly
    • I've never done dial in's just straight up, whatever that's called. I'm far from a drag (racing ) expert.
