Ok so the closest servo to me with ethanol is a caltex and I dont really like the idea of eflex and its varying ethanol content.

About 20 mins away is proper E85, which has got me thinking I might just get a couple drums and do a mission up there every so often and fill them up.

I just thought Ide see if anyone else is doing this and what kind of setup you have got and how you go about doing it.

Im guessing it has to be sealed up really good to prevent water absorbtion, anything else?

I've got the same problem, but I store the eflex in a 200l drum at home, although I decided on a full flex tune so I can run Premium I would rather primarily run eflex, E85 or whatever.... The drum stuff seems fine for ages, it's when you put it in a Jerry can etc it seems to go to sh|t....

yeah well thats what I was thinking... just use a 200L drum, are you using one of those blue poly ones? I have read that they are no good for ethanol? I was thinking if thats the case I may just buy a drum of proper race E85 and then just keep reusing the drum with the regular pump E85, I priced one up and it was $650 delivered for the stuff they use in the V8 supercars apparantly.

any ethanol will vary, united or Caltex - but really, if you want the most stable one... you're probably better off with Caltex E-Flex, it was bang on E70 for a long time, even during summer my sensor never read more than 70 (or less)

United E85 in comparison will vary more than Caltex -

really??? I thought United was meant to be pretty good.... how much would it vary by?

So what you are saying is although e-flex may change between winter and summer, once it changes it stays the same until the season changes again..?

when i spoke to the supplier over here they said should keep for about 6 months in a 200l, it's illegal over here to keep a 200l at home

Errr.... I mean I store mine somewhere else..... Yessss..... :P

And no poly crap, just a 200L Sucragen drum... A mate gave it too me after using the race fuel!! It's a good way to go!!

yeah, or find a chef/restaurant who can let you use some old big oil drums, that's what joeyjoejeo did

i have not see Caltex be anything other than E70 (except once saw some mid 60's in the dead of winter, but might have been some very very small amounts of 98 left, was the first time i switched), they did not go to a summer mix. Don't know why.

United back in the day (before qld/vic floods) went into the 90's on occasion, other people have reported high 70's in nsw since United launched E85 again. Personally i've only see little variance down here in Melbourne, between 82-85% (i've just tried my 3rd United station, need to get the laptop out, but so far there hasn't been any major differences between stations). That's fine for a normal tune, there's no real danger there. There isn't really a huge amount of concern between E70 and E85 either if it's on a conservative tune. Not ideal for a full-on track day, but just getting around town will be fine.

as for why not water meth? i'm only speaking for myself, but i changed predominantly for environmental reasons.

I stopped using my filling drum a while back when a few more local United and Caltex stations popped up. Birds gave me a 44g oil drum and I modified the sealed caps, fitting an air regulator and servo nozzle for silent and fast filling. It worked a treat. I have it here still if someone local wants one cheap.

Sydney....

Pretty sure you can get an E85 drum cheape than what you said, JEM sell it, also Blackhill transport sell the race stuff but I thought it was $400ish for a 200l which might sound expensive but you get the good fuel and the drum too....

yeah that is heaps better....... Ill look into it....

Found this ebay store that sells pumps and nozzles and stuff

    • For a daily just run Akebono ceramic pads. That's what they're optimized for. Obviously don't try to run it on track or anything like that.
    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
