Poor Oil Pressure

Hi guys ok so been having this issue for quite sometime now.. Originally i thought as well as the mechanics.. it had something to do with the big end bearings.But upon droppping the oil over and over again i have not found and metal pices or shrapnel in the oil. Im stumped!! OK so here is what is happening i come out in the morning start mt car arm to warm it up. As soon as i kick her in the guts she hits auto choke and idiles at 1500rpm and the tickking starts. The oil light is on mind u but after 3 seconds or so the ticking stops and the oil light goes off at exactly the same time...A mate of mine pointed out that it could be the pick up having crap loged in it has anyone had anything simillar to this? im starting to believe it may be an oil pump issue but then again im no wizz at this... mind you i have no loss in power no knocking at top end ... if anything ive noticed im running alote richer... any help and advice would be appreciated

it COULD be worn bearings ie the clearences are too large and it takes a moment for the oil to take up the "gap" hence why the noise stops when the oil light goes off,unlikely you would spot metal fragments from the bearings in the oil by eye

If the pickup was blocked I would have thought you'd have bigger problems than a ticking noise for 3 seconds on a cold start.

It does sound like excessive bearing clearances to me. You can mask this (temporarily) by running a thicker grade oil and/or cranking the engine for longer on startup.

What oil filter are you running? If it's a cheap one, and the anti-drain back valve doesn't work or doesn't exist, you can get top end noise on a cold start. How deep is the noise?

lifters taking a few seconds to pump up with oil pressure? ks getting high? sludge? /\ could try different oil & filter, or if it is lifters maybe some pro ma if ya like your additives

ive tried running thicker oil and ive found the problem progresses longer it seams that the oil isnt getting up to the top of the engine quick enough

There are a few cars that run the fuel pump off the oil pressure light (so it won't start unless it's already got some oil pressure). Obviously would have to rig something up (or take the fuel pump fuse out... ).

Def lifters... Oil flush ask repco for the behind the counter dtuff they sell to workshops or use a diesel oil for a little bit then flush that and then use your normal oil...

i use an oil flush every oil change...... where are the lifters located??? because ive had some people say they dont think the rb has lifters??? and i wouldnt run a diesil oil in my car im not game enough to do that lol i guess ill try using thiner oil ill try a 5w30 see how that goes but im quite sure it will just burn out the oil quick the car is getting old has 208k on it now i just wanted to see what peoples response would be because ive heard alote about rbs having oil pressure issues but my guess is that the big ends starting to wear but still doesnt make sense that im not getting a knock in higher rev range.. im just about ready to buy a long block rb and put that in for the time being whilst working on rebuilding the one i will be taking out

better stay away from those that tell you the RB hasnt got lifters! the hydraulic lifters are located in the head

If you and your mates don't think the engine doesn't run hydraulic liters they are wrong.I think it might pay to buy a work shop manual.If you are not mechanical mined best you send it to a good mechanic preferable some one that knows about Nissan

technically it doesnt have lifters, it has cam followers

have you actually done oil pressure test or got oil pressure guage?
