hey guys im tossing up wat to do atm, my 33 lost reverse yesterday atm all it does is make a whinning noise.

A mate of mine rekons the box is cactus, so im keen to toss a manual in it. but i need to buy some time so i can find a manual conversion for the right price. and ive noticed you can pick up an auto box for next to nothing.

I dont wanna pay more than grand for a manual conversion tops im prepared to go to $1200.

i guess wat im really wanting to kno is wats the better box to run for the money, and if theres anything i can do the get somthing out of reverse till i can get a conversion

there was a guy in coomera parting an r33 det wit a manual box he had 800 on the whole conversion, i jus missed out on it. ive seen a couple around for resonable prices.

theres no way a manual gear box is worth 2500 for a skyline when ive seen auto boxes from $150 to $500.

ive seen whole half cuts for 3k it makes buying a manual converson on its own pointless if a half cut is only another $500

i figure if i shop around one is bound to come up. but if i have to in the mean time im guessing ill get a cheep auto and bang it in for the moment.

A good box should be more than $1000 on it's own. Maybe with clutch and flywheel, maybe not.

Auto boxes are worth nothing because......they're worth nothing. People actually want manuals, hence the $$. A full conversion, including the pedal box, clutch master, necessary transmission mount, and gearbox loom/engine bay driver's side loom, plus the work to put it in, adds up.

True didn't think of it like that. But still I'll hunt around for a conversion cheep. There out there. If I'm gonna spend 2500 for one I'll buy a half cut for the bit extra.

I am thinkin of gettin another auto in the mean time

comparing the price of an auto with a 25 box? really? really?

the only cheap 25 stuff i've seen was 20 stuff that people were trying to fob off as 25det, 25de same as 20

we haven't got any 25 manual half cuts going for that price round these ways

gonna do the conversion wit the help of a mate, and i have a manual conversion for less than a grand ;) only one catch tho were not sure if its a 32 or a 33 conversion. they guy dosnt kno :S but i got it really cheep. (i havnt picked it up yet tho) but i figure if its a 33 conversion SCORE but if its a 32 box im not to worried it will get me converted to manual and ill get a 33 box when one comes up.

i jus need to kno just incase its a 32 conversion, does the pedal box fit a 33 and will the tail shaft work on a 33 4 door a mate of mine seems confident it will all fit bar the pedal box says hes unsure lol.

also how can you tell between the 32 manual box and the 33 manual box

The tailshaft is completely different. The speedo drive is completely different. The R32 box is physically half the size and 1/3 the strength of the R33 box. Do not fit it behind an RB25DET.

If the seller "does not know" if it is a 33 or 32 box, then you can be sure that it's a 32. Don't do it. Don't do it.

this, the clutch pedal is different, can be made to fit, 25 box has lever mounting on a slant with torx style bolts, 20 just flat with a 6 bolt plate, otherwise pick it up & shoulder press it, if it's a 25 box you'll make a keeeeeyaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! noise

kk wells im thinkin its a 32 box atm ill have a look at it on the weekend, to be sure. there was one on the goldy for 800 but i missed out on it. ill keep an eye out and i also kno a bloke who may kno some one who has one to if this one falls thro
