Hey guys, just prepping my car for a track meet and need to resolve an issue with the powersteering. Last time I was at Wakefield, the powersteering fluid bubbled over and spat out of the reservoir. It looks like the felt washer for the cap needs to be replaced, but what else can i do to ensure the powersteering fluid doesn't overheat again? Is it a common issue with track GTR's? And where can i find this felt washer??

Cheers!

Hey Jimmy,

There was another thread with this mentioned recently but i cant remember where, there were people putting socks over the resivior and a couple of other solutions, maybe search for it but it was helpful info from memory :)

If you're not using it already, fully synthetic ATF has a higher boiling point than regular stuff. It might be enough for you.

I was already using ATF so I suppose an oil cooler is required! I guess it's an issue with these cars then? Also where can i find that washer?

Thanks guys

Could probably try Amayama.com and search for it too mate....

On a sort of related note, is this thing a cooler or dampner? I never really looked too hard at it -

i believe that its a cooler due to its location, as said above, throw a trans cooler at the power steering and it wont boil on you again

Thanks guys, for those that have installed a cooler on the powersteering, any chance you could post a photo of where you stuck it? There's not much room in my engine bay
