25GTT
Hey Guys, Any of you heard about the new Korean made Catleap monitor? When i first saw the reviews about it i thought they were teasing Koreans with the whole "Cat" eating thing etc. More here: Catleap Q270 : http://www.overclock.net/products/yamakasi-catleap-q270-se-27-led-2560x1440-wqhd-dvi-d-dual-computer-monitor Plus a 421+ page thread on how good it is here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1215866/reviewed-400-2560x1440-ips-no-ag-90hz-achieva-shimian-qh270-and-catleap-q270 apparently amazing value at very cheap price, predominantly off ebay which already raises flags for me. But thought i would put it out to you guys if you have used one yet? I see there appears to be no HDMI input?? SoFreshSoClean
Yeah they're a cheap version of a Dell U2711. HDMI doesn't do 2560x1440. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/403456-catleap-27inch-monitor/#findComment-6416812 Share on other sites
DivHunter
Yeah they're a cheap version of a Dell U2711. HDMI doesn't do 2560x1440. HDMI v1.3+ supports up to 2560x1600. So unless you are talking about a specific v1.2 or less product. GTFO the internet. 25GTT
Ahhhh ok, so its better than HDMI...... Hmm might have to invest in one, but always worry about ebay. Any local Oz suppliers of these? EeLeYe
Ahhhh ok, so its better than HDMI...... Hmm might have to invest in one, but always worry about ebay. Any local Oz suppliers of these? Not necessarily; as Div mentioned, it depends on the HDMI version. Most HDMI compatible hardware these days is HDMI1.3 and above. All in all, even though DVI is old tech, it's still very much commonly used with today's PC monitors and graphics cards anyway. If you're hesitant about buying it off eBay, just review the seller's feedback and if they're all good, then go for the purchase Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/403456-catleap-27inch-monitor/#findComment-6416891 Share on other sites
bozodos
the catleaps have dual link dvi.... been reading a fair bit about them on Overclockers, they seem to be the goods if you can live with the potential of a dead pixel or two for 1/2 the price of a U2711. Not sure whether I'd prefer a Samsung 120hz for gaming though. typevu
lol @ the dead pixel thing http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Yamakasi-Catleap-27-LED-2560x1440-WQHD-S-IPS-Widescreen-Monitor-Q270-SE-/140730297832?pt=AU_comp_monitor&hash=item20c42dede8 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/403456-catleap-27inch-monitor/#findComment-6418203 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
For $319 delivered - that is farking cheap. You could offer him $350 to ensure you get NO dead pixels perhaps, (rather than 5 or more) and then it's be a epic bargain given a Dell IPS is ~$800. Cowboy1600
So very tempted. Been reading some reviews and the tend to be fairly positive. A few people have received a sub-standard monitor, but that's to be expected as they are advertised as possibly sub-standard. I've been planning on spending ~$200 on a new 24 once I get my tax back, but I'm seriously thinking of upping that to $320 and trying one of these. DivHunter
Dead pixels, backlight bleeding etc etc. Get what you pay for with these. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/403456-catleap-27inch-monitor/#findComment-6418447 Share on other sites
Cowboy1600
The dead pixels wouldn't bother me, all I'll be using it for is Battlefield 3 and web browsing. Backlight imbalance and colour bleeding wouldn't be much of an issue unless they were bad. I wouldn't want to be retouching photos on one, but it seems for what I want it for, even worst case wouldn't really be bad. 25GTT
If you do get one Cowboy, you need to give us a full review and your thoughts etc. Yep reviews do looks positive. You hit the nail on the head, i too am looking once i get my tax return. Might try and splurge on a 670gtx as well, fallout 4 is a coming!! typevu
You can same size ASUS, Samsung, Acer, LG, Viewsonic for similar and cheaper pricing @ MSY - http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf What benefit does this have over those? R31Nismoid
I don't even have to look to know the ones you are linking are not IPS panels. Google the difference between TN & IPS That's why some brands are $800-$1000 vs $350.
