Oh and you'll need to replace the top radiator hose and do the rocker cover gaskets

how would u know this and the gaskets?

also with this setup it would 100% have had a engine rebuilt?

cheers

trust stickers are worth 200hp each, and the fuse box that they painted mardi gras yellow is worth 20hp.

To be serious, If we could tell you what it's power output is just looking at a photo we would be charging for that service.

As was mentioned above that top radiator hose is rooted (top of radiator has dried coolant on it that looks like it has had stop leak put in it)

Best bet if your looking to buy it go into ERD and get the guys down there to do a pre purchase inspection and if you want power figures and are willing to pay book it in with Sean over at EFI and get a power run done.

So many people ask this sort of question on a forum how about asking the owner where he gets his work done and check with them what has been done and if it has been dyno'd.

Is the owner a member of this forum if so check previous posts to see if the car has had an known issues and if they were solved here.

I wouldnt have posted this if i had any info on the car, its interstate so cant inspect it. Just want to know as much as possible from this pic thanks

The car is fairly heavily modified. It has an aftermarket standalone ECU and has been fully reqired. Looks like a reasonable wiring job too. The car looks like its been looked after to some moderate standard but as you can see from my earlier posts it will need a tiny bit of TLC.

If the turbo isn't blown, it makes more than 150psi compression on all 6 cylinders and it's not flowing oil out everywhere, I'd say you've got a reasonable looking car. Expect it would sell for somewhere around the 20-25k mark depending on what else it has. You can't see the cams so they cannot be identified.

Get a compression test, oil pressure test and possibly pay a mechanic that is local to the car to drive it and give an opinion. Pick a specialist workshop nearby to the owner. Buying interstate isn't fun, but neither is buying a lemon if you don't check it out properly. I would suggest flying over to see the car but you may not know what you are looking for.

Biggest problems after engine etc will be body damage from an accident so check for splitting in the wheel arches at the seam near the chassis rail.

Failing that, what state is it in? If it's in QLD I could take a look for you if the guy wants to bring it in.

Bumpp, im going to inspect the car guys hopefully if i find flights next week, can someone tell me what to look for in a modified car like this?

And also since its using the stock intake manifold and rocker cover could this mean the engine isnt rebuilt/forged? And also howmuch would the a price range to forge/rebuild this engine if it requires later on?

Sorry for all the question guys ive only had stock 34gtrs before, nothing modified. Cheers

mate, honestly spend $75 - $150 and get it to a mechanic that works with imports...

could save you thousands... or give you ammo to bargin the price down...

even if its mint you could easily get 5-7% off anything these days and that will pay the mechanics fees ten times over...

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
