Stagea For Sale

g'day, i bought a stagea a few months ago with a few problems, but last week the trans decided to go on me leaving me with no car. It's a silver 97 rs4. The mechanic quoted 3300 to fix which compared to the price i bought it is not worth it. Therefore im selling the beast. The other problems (that i know of, considering i know little about cars) are a front left CV boot that needs replacing, injectors and shocks. \

Just wondering if anyone would consider purchasing, im open to offers but dont want to get ripped off. The interior is pretty schmick and its got about 218000 on the clock

if you dont hate the car, the transmission wouldnt be a massive job to change, nor that expensive. id get a quote elsewhere as some places will quote that much in the hopes youll say no or go elsewhere. i rekon a replacement trans would be a hell of a lot cheaper

Yeah i thought of that, but im in the middle of a uni course and earn little to nothing a week in a shitty job so for me i think the best thing to do would be to sell it and buy a car that i only need to worry about the oil and water once a month. And the fact that im a green p-plater and cant legally drive the car has a bit of influence as well.

being a P plater it begs the question... Why did u buy it in the first place?? if you wanted to do it on the cheap you should be able to find a second hand auto for cheap. they're usually just thrown in the bin by importers because theres so many and nobody wants them.

I threw my auto away when I went manual. People ask $200 for them - don't know if they get it. If you were going to keep it a GTR manual box is only $1000 but if you're going to sell it borrow the money to swap a 2nd hand auto into it and you should get a much better price.

I bought an auto tranny with transfer box for $150. It was a "just in case" buy.

yeah but theres a few other things wrong it it.... and the price of the tranny isnt the problem its the 800 labour that the mechanic wants to charge me

Well if ur not up to doing the gearbox swap urself, u should prob sell the car and save up for a better 1 once ur off ur P plates.

:S $800 to change a box??? man my mechanic did my r33 auto box, drive in drive out, and even got rid of the old box for me and only charged me $210 .... your getting ripped. look elsewhere. what state u in? i might know some people

EDIT: and i forgot, that was including the new oil that he supplied. basically 1hr labour + oil.
