Okay, so basically when I change from first to second gear (like a grandma), and then let the clutch out...it makes a big thump probably 1/4 of the way up. the change to 3rd and 4th is less noticeable.

CLIFFS:

When i try to release the clutch (if i dont go incredibly slow) it makes a loud THUMP noise.

Does this mean the clutch is slipping?

What sort of clutch? Could be play in your driveline somewhere.

It is a stock clutch. Someone on silvia forums thinks it is because "the dual mass flywheel would have f**ked springs, causing the second mass to move and clunk"

I wish people on car forums actually helped.

Everyone on this forum is helpful, we are a community of car lovers and more so skyline lovers... Now I'll be brutally honest here, I

Don't know you, never dealt with you, but I HAVE heard of you.... I am a local guy like you, but you managed to upset a LOT, I can only assume u were a dick at some stage... I think you got banned yes?

Now, I'm not here to judge you... I am one of the guys you will meet soon, I suggest you bring the car and I'll have a look for you... OR if you can't drive it show me the car and I'll drive it and let you know.... E mechanics is near possible with the info you supplied, your knowledge of cars may be limited but you will learn in time...

Don't pick on the forum, evaluate yourself... And PM me if you have any issues with anything said...

I gave you a possible cause and you listed another. Skylines don't have dual mass flywheels so not everyone here will have experience with them

If that's how your gonna act I'm sorry I tried to help in the first place. Seems you didnt even bother looking at any play in the driveline

And if there's a possibility that its the dual mass flywheel why aren't you looking into that. Its a Sylvia not a skyline so don't get the $hits when a Sylvia forum has listed a possible issue and no one on here has.

He's just trolling you guys.

Don't bother helping him.

He probably doesn't even have a problem, just making up something to troll with.

OT.

Go to a Silvia Forum and ask them.

Better yet, take it to a mechanic.

I already asked on silvia forums.

And ffs, I trolled SAU over 1-2 years ago (in the wasteland), get over it already.

I appreciated your response, but you were the only person who bothered answering, and I dont know how to check for play in the driveline.

I can't find a mechanic for the S15 anyway, no one seems interested around here or seem familiar with s15's. If it was a v8 commodore etc id have no worries finding a mechanic.

So yeah, not going to waste money taking it to mechanics when they will just rip me off.

Reap what you sow motherf**ker. If you kill a man 1-2 years ago that don't mean your past ain't gonna catch up to you when you don't want it to.

Hi Benji,

It doesn't sound like your clutch is slipping rather something is worn. I'd suggest checking the tailshaft centre bearing.

Regards,

Andrew Sullivan
