how do you sell a car

how do i sell car i have never sold a car before and his coming to pick next week so can someone list the thing i have to sign/do etc before the car is his thanks btw his paying cash

I thihnk your resposible for transfer of the "automotive transfer form" (in WA anyway)

probably he will be asking pink slip and road worthy slip???

and if he is smart he already checked that car is actually yours and have registration plus it is not on any finace...

also will ask you to write a letter saying that it is not under finace/loan....etc.

once transaction if finished it your responsible to send off "auto transfer form to nearest licencing centre"

all you have to do is take the "notice of disposal" section of ur rego papers to the RTA (I think within 14 days). THey also have to go to RTA to pay stamp duty on the transfer

Yep, just fill out the notice of disposal form that is on the back of the registration certificate. He/she may also ask for a receipt (handwritten is fine). They will have to transfer the registration within 14 days and you ave to give the RTA the notice of disposal form within 14 days too. However, I would go into the RTA (most are open until 12:30 tomorrow) and hand that in asap to avoid any problems that may arise if the new owner gets a fine via a camera as it will go to you.

Also alot of people selling cars will only accept a bank cheque, opposed to a personal cheque. Because that is a safer transaction method for them.

Like they all said, fill out back of rego papers,give sellers half to him/her,hand in a copy asap to RTA. Also have pinkslip & Greenslip to hand ova to them. NEVER take personal cheques!!!
