Hmm I dont know which is considered better but I can tell you that you can buy and install an safc for much less than $900 .... I got a brand new safc for $380 plus about $150 to install and tune.. that totals a little over $500.

I got good gains from the safc, so I would suggest going the same way... If you ever get serious about your mods down the track you are going to replace the ECU anyway and you can sell the safc to the next person...

McBoost what sorta power do you want to achieve?

Now and in the future

It might be better if you just keep what you have now, dont waste your money on a piggy back system and save that money for a full standalone such as a motec or microtech or powerfc etc

If you do decide to get a safc, buy an emanage instead...a much better piggy back system!

aiming for 200rwkw

i got rb20det, 3in mandrel exhaust, pod, 600x300x76 fmic and 11psi, triple puck brass button clutch.

so now needs the air/ fuel ratios tuned a bit

whats a good ratio??

If your not going to change settings all the time then reprogramming the stock ecu will serve your needs easily. SAFC's are for people who want to fiddle with fuelling, where as an ecu program is more a "Set and forget" sorta thing. If you can find someone who will do remaps & tunes cheaply when you want to change something then the stock ecu is great.

Otherwise do all your mods at once and remap it once :)

I paid $250 for my SAFCI (should be able to pick one up for $300 easily), a mate fitted it, and can easily be tuned in less than an hour ($150).

Who do you know that does the remaps? I'm considering that option next so i can fit bigger injectors and AFM.
