Hey All,

My S2 Stagea has a problem with it's Xanavi head unit. It seems to power up and beep, i can control the temp and the radio works, but the screen is totally blank. I have had the car for about a month and one random day the screen turned on and everything worked perfectly (all be it in Japanese) but then when i turned off the car the screen went blank and it hasn't turned on since.

So it seems like the screen works fine, but there is a power connection or something somewhere.

Does anybody have ANY idea how to solve this? Is it a common problem? Is there anybody I can sent it to and get it fixed (i'm in the UK but happy to ship to Aus)

It's such a bummer as the aircon etc all operate through this so i can't just remove it.

DOH!

Any help, much appreciated!

Cheers

Chris

Hey Guishnu

I can only suggest to remove the entire unit and look in the back. There's quite a few plugs, maybe one has become dislogded and it's not recieving an ignition or power signal. I removed mine recently and noticed there's a fan at the back, which i assume is to keep the display cool as it heats up. It might be that at some point your display has overheated. Keep in mind these units can be 12yo or more.

Good luck and keep us posted if you solve it

Cheers

Hi, just got a s2 stagea with the xanavi headunit too. When i went on the freeway (100km/h) i noticed my screen turned blank and stayed blank after a few min. I could use the aircon, turn on/off and and the other button on the climate light up. 2 min after slowing down from 100km/h the screen came back as normal. Not sure if this is of any relevance to your fault but it may be something to check, somehow.

Totally randomly, it has started working today. May be something to do with the weather getting hot here in the UK. I'm wondering if it's some damp or moisture in the system somewhere?

Weird.

Now from past experience with my old R32 with the aircon controls and other electronics. Nissan's PCBs are prone to what its called "dry solder" issues(when solders become loose with the components due to age). What I ended up doing is re-heating the old solder to make it stick to the components again. Not sure if this would help but surely

Nissan would have improved their soldering techniques by now!

Yeah, there is a problem with it somewhere. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't :-(

It actually only seems to work when it's hot outside...

Anybody selling a second hand one?
