When i bought my car it came with the factory 19" wheels professionaly powdercoated black. I was never a huge fan of black wheels but it grew on me in the end.. But now im after a change so was wondering if any other V36 coupe owners out there with factory silver colour rims that want to swap for something different?

Mine are mint condition apart from one little chip on the front left wheel. Id prefer to swap including tyres as long as the wear is around the same. Saves us going to the tyre shop. Also FYI im in WA and would prefer not to have to ship them intersate. But id consider it.

Tyres are Bridgstone Potenza - Ill have to check the tread but i think its around 40-50% all round.

Heres some pics.

cheers

Pricing for jap wheels all depends. Obviously dearer if you order brand new. Plenty of 2nd hand quality stuff out there ranging from 1.5 to 2.5k again depends on condition brand width offsets etc... In my lifetime of owning imports I have probably purchased in the vicinity of 15 to 20 sets of jap wheels. Most I ever paid was $3k got a few bargains a well. So do your research, check frequently on forums, eBay, import websites etc.. Or even yahoo auctions in jp. Invest in a good set and you won't regret it

Thanks ill have a look. If i end up getting aftermarket jap wheels i want to try get something for maybe 1k + whatever i get for the factory wheels. So i guess my budget would be around 3k.

Wish there was more v36's in Perth so i could just swap with someone for silver stockies.. I actually dont mind the stock 19's.. For once they got it right..

Nice, looks way better in silver. I dont think black wheels really suit silver cars.

Did you paint or powder coat them?

I have painted a few sets of wheels before. They came up ok but it really comes down to how much work you put in.

My cars pretty new so i want a professional finish. In saying that im pretty time poor so ill probably get someone to do it for me.

I spoke to Alliance rim repairs today in Malaga (perth). They quoted me between $170 and $220 per corner. They use 2 pac paint and the guy was telling me powder coating gives a more orange peely finish. Does anyone here know the benefits of paint over powder coat?? Is one more stronger/harder wearing then the other?

powder coat is meant to be stronger afaik, I had my wheels powdercoated black & definitely not a rough orange peel finish, silky smooth.

from memory it was the same price to get powdercoated as that guy wants for his 2pak job

(I asked him to paint them whatever dark colour cause they were gold previously.. awful. I picked them up and he told me he used leftover paint he had from doing some lambo wheels haha)

Great pricing too. Will be using him again whenever I need wheels painting for sure.

edit: Pics really don't do his work justice.
