Hey guys,

Just bought myself an R33 Series 2 GTS-T, which is my first venture into the import scene and so far I don't understand why the entire world doesn't drive around in Skylines.

Anyway I'm looking at replacing the ragged set of wheels on my car and came across a set of BBS rip-offs in Melbourne on eBay.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these wheels or this company and I'm just wondering if they're any good.

This car is my daily, so I'm not looking for anything that will withstand days of beatings on the tracks, just a set of wheels that look nice and won't crumble to pieces on the way to work and with an occasional squirt here and there.

This is the link to the wheels.

Cheers guys,

Daine.

damn nice looking wheels ..

problems with cheap, not so popular rims, especially in large sizes where you run skinny tyres...1 decent pothole and its game over

they dent easily and you will have a big dent in a rim thats often hard to get a replacement..

I have seen a few of these selling around, so may not be as much issue.

but it really sux when your nice set of rims is useless cause one is busted....

Damn that sucks. Whyalla isn't too bad for potholes but when I go back to Kadina I'm sure these rims would get annihilated.

Too bad genuine BBS wheels are worth like 1k each.

I reckon I'll either get these or a set of speedy cheetahs but it will all depend on the size of my tax cheque ;)

Genuine BBS LM in 18x10 are around $2k brand new (at least they were in 2010).

Their other models are cheaper but not the LMs.

I'm not sure what the price would be for 19" rims as I can't find the site (pretty sure it was AMG but I couldn't find the LMs on there).

I wonder if I could get 9.5's on the front and 10.5's on the back without too much stuffing around.

Do you reckon 9.5's would even fit on the front? Reading through the thread now and everyone seems to have 8.5's on the front.

yeah you can do that depending on offset..but the beauty of wearing same size shoes all round is you can rotate your tyres for longer life, im assuming if you cant afford genuine bbs rims you dont want to be forking out for tyres too often either..(.I know I dont ,) so get something affordable, cool and long lasting ;)

varrstoens are fine man. just dont run thin tyres and you'll be fine.

ive got the te37 copies and wrapped them in 275/35 and 245/40 both 18's ive hit a few pot holes. no problems.

i found that most people that have snapped a wheel are generally stance fanboys that run stupidly stretched tyres eg 225/30 on 11" wheels(yeh thats really not asking for it lol)

18x9.5 fit all round with +25?? offset..look shit hot too...read the wheels thread

    • Nope, but they are definitely one of the default choices. Well established.

    • Haha actually I did join back then under a different email address,  I couldn't re-activate my account so made a new one! I didn't post much anyway so not missing out on much. Amazing to see how the value of the cars and parts has changed over the years, also ACT section appears to be dead now.
    • Thanks... It's in pretty good condition overall, probably due to not being drifted/tuned however being a daily driver has taken its toll. Had 100k on the clock when I got it, up to 180k now. Unfortunately it's not 100% dent free, it's got a small dent on FLH side and broken indicator from where I hit a small kangaroo at high speed. If you look at closely at pic #5 you might spot the dodgy trailer light repair my old man and I rigged up as temporary repair! - It's still there due to a combo of needing the car as daily driver and then too lazy/busy to fix properly. I've a couple of other minor accidents accidents as well but nothing major. One required a new front bar and unfortunately the smash repairer ordered the normal gtst one and not the aero bar. Needed the car back asap so just went with it, regretted ever since.
    • I can't believe that anyone is foolish enough to believe that the base maps are for any other purpose than to drive the car up onto the trailer/truck or gently creep it to the dyno. No matter how good they are, they can never be any better than the factory maps**, and only the foolish trust those on a significantly modified setup. **Yeah, yeah. I know there's also the difference between factory maps being fixed to certain injector sizes and MAP/AFM/VE relationships, and the likely aftermarket ECU base maps being better able to handle the sorts of changes that would render a stock ECU dangerous, like different sized injectors. But let's just ignore that for the moment, because the principle is still the same.
