Hi all,

Just wanting some input on a tyre dilemma- hope this is not traversing ground already specifically covered in other threads

I have 17x9 +15 rims on my r33 gts-t. Weekend car/ track day use.

Currently running Kumho KU31 in 225/45/17 which need replacing.

These are the contenders;

Kumho KU36 in 225/45/17 - $150 ea

Kumho KU36 in 235/45/17 - $200 ish ea

Toyo R1R in 245/40/17 or 255/40/17 - from St George tyres ebay- 2007 build- $180 ea

I am keen on the Toyos in a 255 (will need to do guard work and more camber) but am worried that they are 5 year old tyres!!

I would rather not spend more than $200 per corner.

Opinions? Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks :)

i suggest Federal 595 RSR , i use to run Kuhmo KU36 , the federals are at least 1 second a lap faster and have harder sidewalls .

Ring Ken from OTR motorsports he is selling Federals on SAU - 235-45-17 for $190 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/398987-federal-r-s-r/page__pid__6444608#entry6444608

With the caveat that the RSRs are even softer than KU36 and don't last as long (and the KU36s don't last long at all!!)

Say what?

Never seen anyone saying the RS-R take noticeably more wear than a KU36 - they seem roughly on par.

KUs were a good choice when they were cheaper, these days RS-R for the money would be the better choice.

i had a had a 225/45/17 ku36 on a 9 and it was stretched, only reason i did this was offset was low as was the car and i had clearance issues.

i now run the 225 on a 7", so for your 9" wheel best to go with 235 or wider if it will clear the guards.

can i ask where you get the 225/45/17 ku36 for 150 each?

I just bought a full set of KU39's from tire rack.

Fronts are 225 wide and 99$ each

Rears are 245 wide and 112 each

shipping was 350.

total was 775. pretty good set if you don't want semi's and better than the KU31's that i had before.

locally i got quoted 1156.
