Hey Guys

So Ive gotten a quote for $1500 to do a full service on my r33 , flush all liquids etc. This is obviously including parts. The service is going to be done by Paden at Unique Automotive.

Ive been able to find 100 thou service kits on eBay for a tad over what a single water pump would cost me ($370)

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320857809210?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

and

Motul 4100 + filter for a good price as well.($90)

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/180807279703?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Would I be better of buying these items online and just getting him to do labour?

Are there any horror stories of 100 thou service kits from eBay failing? ALL the items are listed as genuine OEM NISSAN/NSK so I don't see why there would be a problem, however Im not willing anything stuffing up to save a few bucks as im planning to turn the boost up shortly so want to make sure this is a good decision.

I know just how important this service is and if i have to , Ill simply pay the $1500 , just looking a cheaper alternative. Has anyone gone this route before?

Thanks in advance for any help

cheers

i bought a gmh water pump and gates timng belt kit inc pulleys and a rocker cover gasket kit from ebay. cost me 320 bucks total, my mechanic is gonna charge about 250 to fit timing belt and water pump, and ill service the oil filter and sparks my self. 1500 bucks is ridiculous mate. well i think so. a water pump for 370 bucks? my brand new OEM radiator didnt cost that much! hahaha! (my car is pretty standard tho so i dont need any fancy nismo/uprated parts) my apologies if you do.

no apologies needed , going for a BPU car with just a front mount , zorts and a good tune. Looking for around 220rwkw on not more then 12 pounds as its my daily...so not going to need any "nismo" parts.

Was thinking the same , 1500 is a bit much , even id Paden does do amazing work.

I reckon I'l get all the parts together and see what he charges me for labour. On that note , even though its been asked among countless threads previously....if anyone can be bothered to answer

For my stock as a rock r33 gtst s2 what

Transmission Fluid is the best for everyday driving - heard good things about redline shockproof....which one?

Brake fluid for everyday stop start traffic driving - also heard good things about Motul RBF600 but apparently has to be changed every few months..not to keen on that. Heard good things about Motul Dot 5.1

Best Coolant?

Best Diff oil for everyday use?

Engine Oil - Have already decided to go with Motul 4100 + bosch filter

    • Thanks Mate, I did know you could do that but i know there is a pump out there that you can bolt on and it all lines up. I was told about it and then forgot the model, I figure if i am pulling it apart i will just put a new one on
    • You can also remove the veins from the HICAS portion of your existing pump.
    • Trying to swap the rear subframe on my R34 and can't remove the L-shaped stay brackets between the front subframe mounts and the sill/chassis. I'm in the UK so rust is a problem. I've used loads of WD40 and then Tunap 103 for days beforehand. I backed off the bolts forward a bit, backward a bit repeatedly for ages to try and avoid snapping. They have all moved a few full turns. The one I've spent most time on has come loose and I can turn with fingers, and it will pull down and push up 2-3mm. But it won't come out. I can tighten it back up and loosen it off again repeatedly but it still won't come out. I assumed there's a captive nut inside but if that's broken loose then I can't understand why I can always tighten the bolt back up - I'd expect it to just spin both ways. Any ideas what's happening here? I can't visualise what's inside there to cause this.
