Exhaust throttle plates are stupid....seriously.

Of all the ones I have fitted I don't think a single customer has ended up adjusting it away from fully open and when they have needed to, they have been seized from lack of use

so it seized up from rust/ grit in the opening rod, or the electric motor seized up?

could be quite useful to not draw unwanted attention by going to smaller tip/silencer on the muffler and then hook up a y pipe before the muffler and set the rpm switch at 3-5k, much better then the old lever type and pretty cheap too

although no point if defects and such ain't a real issue say with a 2nd daily

It's usually the centre bar that seizes. Even the cable operated ones jam up.

If you set your ECU to close it when above 400rpm but below 6000rpm but have a boost overlay or throttle position over 75% or both it would be able to keep opening and closing and you'd never have to touch it. It would only ever open when you were foot on boards, that might help to prolong its life.

But then you'd need a Wolf V550 or maybe a Link G4 to do that so maybe not that cost effective.

And add to the fact they still don't make you legal.

Police officer (in Vic at least) - spots a import with a nice big cannon and doesn't hear anything coming out of it...?

Cop thinks "da fuq" and pulls you over anyway to find out why. They aren't stupid... Or you actually come through a random EPA road-side test station, that's when you get the lube out :)

That sucks.

They aren't as fearce up here, instead, they make up their own variation to the 'law'

I got a phone call a couple of months back because two guys were defected for running E85 (Caltex E-flex) and he wanted a mod plate done for it.

I told him there was no code and it was impossible to write a blue plate for that so not sure what ended up happening. I told him I'd write a statement he could use in court but I guess he didn't need it or just paid the fine :(
