Hey ive just purchased a 2003 v35 coupe auto with 80k on it. Car hasnt been in australia for long in fact it was only registered last month. The issue im having is every time i turn on the car and drive off in the first gear change it seems, i hear a crunch. It only doesnt it first time i turn on the car and it doesnt matter if the engine is cold or up to temprature. Ive checked the gearbox oil and it seems fine so i think i shoukd just drop it and put new stuff in.

Any one else experience something similar?

I hear a grinding when i drive off and it hits second gear. Only happens on a cold start and it grinds for a second. Anyone know if that could be abs too? Btw mines auto. Not sure if gearbox or this abs u guys mention.

probably ABS, maybe next time hold it in 1st until you get past the speed it normally shifts to 2nd, if it still does it, it is most likely the ABS, if only does it when your transmission actually shifts to 2nd, it might be a transmission issue.

my sedan does it.. if it doesn't happen, maybe your ABS isn't working.. All ABS systems do some sort of test like this, but most don't have the actuator attached to the firewall, so you don't hear it.
