OK, here it goes, the call for help: I need a job.

First, the background. Ive been living long term in Japan (7 years) and now that Ive come back Im finding it impossible to get a job. I have a polished resume, a variety of experience and in almost 2 months havent got so much as 1 interview. My fiance is packing up and coming down to Aus in a month or so and I really have to be earning before then. Time is running out and need to get something fast.

So my big question is, do you know of any jobs that are available where you work? Maybe you know of positions opening up, or someone leaving, or just that your company needs someone. Below are my skills and experience.

Degree in management (Marketing)

6 years magazine writing/photography, mostly cars and motorbike mags

teaching

good skills in writing, researching, organization, speaking, business understanding.

Im ideally hoping for something low level in business/marketing/office support or similar, but at this point im open to any ideas whiich involve a full time salary.

I live in the eastern suburbs / bayside area, and hope to work there or CBD

If you know of anything, please let me know or let your boss know about me. I can be contacted at [email protected]

Thanks in Advance,

Jeremy

Oh, also, if you have any ideas out of the ordinary for finding jobs, that would help too. Cheers

lol dont mean to be rude. but i wouldnt be hiring someone with that email address.

i suggest making an email address with your name in it and use it for business stuff ie. finding a job..

just a thought.. good luck!

fair enough..

have you tried getting on linkedin/ismycv and professional sites like that? also facebook is another site employers reseach you, so being careful about whats put on there is important too!

the guy has a degree in marketing and 6 years professional writing experience and you wont hire him cause you dont like his email address....

...Its amazing how you can bullshit through your ass on a piece of paper and get a job because of it...reminds me of "Catch me if you Can", where he makes up a pile of fake Harvard degrees and the guy gets a job running the hospital...

I'd hire the guy just for having a cool email address.....if I liked him that is ....wouldnt' hire him if he was black though.....lol

We have a full time admin type role going at the moment. In the finance area, responsible for arranging commissions payments to mortgage brokers, dealing with commission enquiries and problems, liaising with lenders and so on. We're based in Collins Street, 2 mins from Southern Cross station.

Looking at about $35k-40k+ super. Young company soon to be the biggest mortgage broker aggregator in the country. It's also a place that once you're in you get first dibs at any other roles which might arise.

I agree with the email address thing, too. Personally it doesn't bother me, but I know a lot of companies will do a initial elimination of applicants based on things like spelling, email addresses and the like.

Thanks for the feedback. Naturally, I have more than one email. And the S13 is long gone too ; (

    • Hard to say what the extra connector is, it looks a bit like a coax type connector, so possibly a separate radio/GPS antenna, or even another camera input?  The V37 series (including the Q50), did go through a model refresh in 2020, since Australia didn't get any Q50s newer than 2019, we didn't get any of the refreshed models, so there could also be other unexpected problems to overcome to swap an older Q50 head unit into a new model V37. There probably aren't too many people around that have made these sorts of changes to a Q50/V37, so you might end up being the first if you do decide to go ahead. ACP is Apple Car Play and AA is Android Auto, they are roughly the same thing for the 2 major phone operating systems (Apple's iOS and Android), it allows you to connect your phone and access a number of your phone applications on your car system.  With Nav apps included, so you could use google maps/Waze or whatever your favourite navigation app is, instead of using the built in navi system.  I think this would be a better solution if it is only Navigation that you are looking as swapping the head unit for. GPS signals are the same around the globe as the GPS satellites continuously circle the globe, but it is the head unit that doesn't allow you to load Australian maps, or at least no-one had made an Australian map that will load up on the JDM head unit. Regarding the TV standards, I assume you are referring to the AV inputs?  I haven't ever tried to use them, Japan used a slightly modified version of the US NTSC system, and Australia uses PAL for composite video, that said, I wouldn't be surprised if a video input could work with either system.  That is mostly irrelevant here though, unless you plan to use those inputs for something?
    • If you've got bucket loads of $. Go single. If not, just upgrade the twins, Garrett -9's or whatever the current equivalent is for a healthy 350awkw and leave it at that. Will probably still cost you 10k to do in this day and age.
    • When you looking to buy injectors?? I could possibly sell you my 1d1700s for decent price. Done little work I just need bigger again 😫

    • I'm late to the party. Been busy with a newborn... Keeping me up at all hours of the night.  I'll look into purchasing ID 1750's then! Thanks everyone for the concrete evidence.
