hey guys, my wheels started to squeak recently and it's taking the piss out of me. I've found a few ways to fix it without taking things apart like heating it up by hard breaking but all have failed to stop the noise.

besides changing break pads, what else could contribute to squeaking?

It's mainly low speed like 20 kms when it starts squeaking. I assume it's break pads but I'm in doubt since when I let my breaks go and roll slow, it squeaks.

Light breaking + rolling wheels = constant squeak until stop "eeeeeeeeeeeeeek"

Idle rolling = umm.... "eek eek eek eek" squeak? not "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek"

I would be checking your handbrake shoes etc if you don't think it's your brakes, pull the rotors off, give the drum a clean and rough up and make sure the shoes are still secure.... Just a thought :)

what are handbrake shoes? and I JUST REALISED i spelled Breaks wrong

and one stupid question, what are those tools that you use to remove socket nuts? like the one pictured below:

I got a socket set, but obviously two female sockets dont work.

Mate, not being an ass but if you dont have the tools to remove the wheels PLEASE don't attempt to play with the brakes man!! Safety first :)

The handbrake is inside your rear rotor...

Sounds like brake pads. You will find that there is most likely slight contact with the brake released and that is why it still makes the noise with your foot off, does the frequency of the "eeks" (lol) inrease with speed and decrease when you slow down with your foot off the brake?

haha I don't have the tool to take the nuts off my wheels but got jack stands and jacks. only got sockets for regular nuts, but not a head to take out socketed nuts. looking to pick one up from SuperCheap tomorrow.

I think its louder the slower i go, when I gain speed, it quiets down and eventually at above 30 kmph, no squeals at all.

My skyline has a similar problem, but is Intermittent. Only just bought it so haven't had any time to check what it is. It's only the left rear side and doesn't happen if i corner left. Going to check the brakes this weekend.

Just check there is nothing around the backing plates and your pads arent rooooo ted, if they are all good i would still be checking the handbrake etc..... Nearly every falcon had that damn problem and these are similar in principal.......
