I have done searches and found a couple of people saying they have planned on fitting GTR valve springs to their RB25DE to stop valve float when turbo'ing them but no yes/no answer on whether it worked on not. Like this for example:

Can someone tell me 100% that i can use them without any issues? I know they are longer than the standard 25DE springs anyway.

Sorry for the noob question if its been asked a million times before.

You will need to know the installed height and coil bind height of both springs and then I will need to know the max lift of the camshaft to be able to work it out for you.

I have tried finding the figures for the standard springs before with no luck but I am time poor so little effort was put in on my part before selecting something appropriate out of the supertech catalogue

RIght finally got the measurements for you man:

  1. The installed height of both springs is 35.5mm
  2. The coil bind height of the GTR spring is 26mm
  3. The coil bind height of the RB25DE spring is 24.3mm
  4. The lift of the cams is 8.5mm

From what we figured there should be a 1mm clearance before spring bind with the GTR valve springs and the HKS cams. Let me know what you think or if you need any more info?

Yep, that's right on the money. 0.040" is an acceptable level for safety from coil bind so you will be sweet. The GTR spring should have a heavier coil, hence the higher coil bind height. Should be a very moderate upgrade. We bin GTR springs all the time so I'm not sure how far they will actually get you

Thats great man, thank you!

Im only planning on going with the GTR springs over the standard NA springs to avoid any valve seal problems with the increased air pressure from the turbo. Do you think there is no point and i should run with the standard springs? Do you bin the GTR springs as the arent strong enough in your opinion?
