100% sounds like a bearing.

Stop running the engine before that bearing disintegrates and costs you a lot more in the long run.

An engine build doesn't have to cost you stupid amounts of money either, it's about buying from the right places and not getting screwed on machining and assembly costs.

ok so there is no good performance mechanics within 100km of me, i have to get the car into sydney to have it rebuilt, i live on the central coast so if anyone knows a shop that can diagnise it and check it all out plz let me knw.

I paid 39k for her + on roads from outerstate cost me 45k in the end, i had the car checked by nissan they pulled turbos off compression test ect, but i guess i have oil starvation at high speed.

Thats very unfortunate mate sucks when things like this happen.

Might as well go forged pistons at the very minimum while the motor is all out imo accompanied with new water + oil pumps, oil restrictor and a sump baffle as you would be silly not to.

I remember when doing mine I had the car dropped the car off Saturday morning, picked it up 2 and a half weeks later with all machining, assembly done and few other goodies I dropped off installed and a retune. A year later my car is still going hard and pulling rather respectable power figures with no issues and the motor runs beautifully. If you want details etc shoot me a PM I will be more than happy to give you some more info

Ps. Why on earth would you make your GTR a daily, thats just asking for trouble lol !

would have to agree with this 100%.. its not impossible, but far better if you dont have to rely on a car like this as your primary mode of transport unfortunately..

keep us posted, best of luck to you mate..

Sorry to hear this Adam, i was looking foward to seeing this on a cruise.

I do suggest buying a daily - even its the cheapest nastiest thing you can find - it would be a shame to sell the car as is.

If you start looking for an engine builder, i suggest Paul at Red R Racing - his reputation speaks for itself - if you want his details, shoot us a PM.

Car is with Tuff Tune at tuggerah, its big end, looks like im going to be doing ACl bearings, baffle, N1 oil pump and putting it back togeather, ill probs get timing belt and water pump done while its out also, dont have the cash flow to do pistions and shit now, if it only went in 6 months and not right after i bought it.....

yeh thanks man, if i have any issues with tuff tune i will 100% be giving u a call tho its good to know we have ppl on the coast that can look after the great Godzilla.

a big thanks to everyone also for help diagnosing the issue, the advice on the tow truck probably saved me a crank also so cheers everyone its appreciated.

I really cant express oil control enough! The day my engine comes out, oil control will be the first thing i do

This. When you consider you can get a Tomei Sump Baffle and a Oil Restrictor together for $300 you would be silly not to do this as a minimum. Such a cheap mod that goes such a long way

Hello,

Did the Nissan inspection come with any form of warranty? I know with state roads inspections, if they fail to pick up a fault, they will pay for a % of the repair.

Its a long shot tied in with a little bit of wishful thinking, but thought i'd mention it incase it does help.

yep i was just quoted around 2.5k to pull it out do the bearings put it back in, and 7k for a full rebuild with baffle and restrictor, im thinking maybe i should try a diff shop for quotes all i really want to do is prevent this from happening again i dont need to put forged internals in the car as im only running it stock and dont have plans for massive KW i bought the car to drive it stock not to pack $$$$ into the engine to make it fly. Jez what do u think of this price wise? and does anyone else konw any good shops in Sydney/central coast i can talk to?

Hey guys, im just wondering what would need to be replaced in the engine besides the bearings as they are shagged if i was to keep stock internals and do oil management (baffle and oil restrictor and N1 pump) this is all i feel i really need to do as im not going to use it to break land speed records.....yet :D

This was my list so far

N1 oil pump $350

Water pump $150

Baffle pan $350

Timing belt $100

Head gasket $260

Restrictor $3

ACL bearings $300

ARP Head Stud Kit $300 (not sure if i will need this or not)
