I came across this exhaust:

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f1a3811f7

Would anyone know what noise level to expect from this one?

I don't want any droning or being unable to listen to music in the car. (that is with no amps installed)

Does anyone know how noisy this one is?

As an alternative I came across this one:

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4845466ac7

But the diameter of the piping (rear end) looks kinda small to me.

Basically I am looking for a system which is good for 260-300RKW ..

Thanks :)

And I meant NOISY, not NOSIY ... :) :)

anything with an oval mid muffler should be reasonable, anything with 3" all the way though will be fine for that power level, going bigger will make it louder.

if its got a hotdog and a cannon expect it to be loud and drone like a bitch at motorway speeds.

if like the ones you have linked it has an oval middle muffler and a cannon rear expect it to be reasonable and unlikely to have horrid drone while cruising

if its got two oval mufflers expect it to be fairly unobtrusive.

Thanks ..

Seems like this is the one to go then.

Actually I was quite happy with the standard exhaust.

Having the cat removed it actually sounds a bit hearty and it is not loud.

However I now have a hybrid turbo and it seems the standard exhaust is

restricting the engine too much when upping the boost further.

Btw.

Is the Super Drager 3 inch all the way??

Thanks ..

Mine is actually more like 3.5. Slight reduction at each flange

I to have this on my 32, it has a great note and not loud at all, mine is 80mm at the cat flange then steps to 85mm straight away, goes through the muffler to the next flange then steps to 90mm and the out through the cannon to a 5" tip, this car made 293rwkw with stock ceramic turbos, I looked for this system to suit the 34 cause I like the one on the 32 so much but couldn't find one so am going a custom copy of it

Great then, the exhaust 'sounds' better with each reply.

Now all I have to do is actually buy/win it.

I have a Trust downpipe which is 3'' or 3.5'' (?) and a HKS decat pipe which is the same diameter as the Trust.

Should be a nice fit ..

Would anybody here know what type of gasket I need for the connection of rear muffler to the rest of the system?

The gasket seems to have 4 holes for the bolts, but what would be the diameter?

I searched E-Bay, but no luck so far.

What turbo you are running will make a massive difference to volume.

For example I am running a stock rear housing highflow 3" all the way with a single rusted out large oval bodied muffler and it is loud but not super loud. My mate however runs a Gt3076r 0.82 with a 3" and a much better rear muffler and a resonator and it is MUCH louder. So just keep this in mind when comparing exhausts.

Imo if stock turbo a single large bodied oval muffler will do the job, if you are going a gt30 sized rear housing then two large bodied oval mufflers are a must.

Hi there,

I am running a HighFlowed OP6 turbine so nothing too exotic.

When I bough the car it had a HKS system with no middle silencer.

It was a nice sound (for race use), but too noisy for daily use.

.

I did not like the noise and installed the genuine exhaust system back on.

(actually the R34 exhaust, which is slightly bigger)

I have the Super Drager here now and I found it quite heavy (I though it was lighter).

The inner pipe diameter is 76mm (at the CAT) and about 84mm at the rest of the system.

Once I have the missing gaskets and exhaust rubber mounts I will install it.

(Not doing Exhaust--Goo) :)

The idiotic seller tied the 2 exhaust pieces together with a cable tie, and wrapped 2 layers of refuse bags around it.

That was what he called 'shrink wrap' / good packaging,

:woot::angry:

So it was metal on metal for the transport via UPS.

Fortunately the rear muffler took no damage, but I spent some hours restoring the exhaust's condition.

Here's the exhaust on an RB25 and the sound seems good:

There is gasket sheets you can buy from repco Think its acl from memory just mark out flange on the sheet hole punch the bolt holes out & centre cut the shape with tin snips *Make sure there Sharp*

    • Update for the sake of closure   Ended up getting the intercooler piping all sorted, new plugs and yellow jacket coils, and she was idling mint until it warmed up while I was bleeding the cooling system. Found the misfire to be localised to cyl 3 by unplugging coilpacks, ran a compression test, that checked out, then decided to get a mate to check if that spark plug was firing out of the motor. Upon cranking it over, with the injectors disconnected, the car actually fired and ran on a couple cylinders and heaps of fuel came out the top of cyl 3 I'd say that injector's either spraying incorrectly or spraying far too much, which is fine as I'm planning on replacing them anyway I'm planning on making about 250kW on flex fuel, and have a set of 1000cc injectors from ozautosport, obviously overkill but I'm planning on building the motor and running more boost further down the line, do you reckon they'd be too big for a smooth idle on 98? Thanks for the replies gents, much appreciated
    • I'm confused. You said you want to "remove the clear coat from most panels" but it sounds like you are actually doing a full respray? Few random things to add -  If you chase the blistered paint with 120 grit, I can almost guarantee you'll chase it down to bare metal (that's fine). But if you paint the car from here, you'll have nice little indents where ever the blistered paint was. The new paint won't magically level out the low areas, you need to fill them. Which leads me to the main point I wanted to add, make sure the whole car is flat before you paint it. All those areas with blistered paint you sanded out, make sure to fill them and triple check they are flat with a block guide coat. I'd also check the whole car is flat with a large block and guide coat but yeah up to you if you want to go that far.
    • 300hp (225kw) is barely outside the standard turbo's range with a bit of extra boost in it (200ish). If you are going to change the turbo you should aim for 250-300kw (330-400hp) to make the expense worthwhile
    • A couple of things, firstly omg that turbo is expensive! $3,000 USD for dinosaur technology is robbery. You could buy a G series turbo and have a good amount of change instead.  If you want a good budget option, have a look here - https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/ If you are keen to spend more, have look at the modern turbos, Garrett G series, Borgwarner EFR, etc. Have a look at the RB25 dyno results thread for inspiration.  If you upgrade your turbo to something that will support the 300hp you want and only "probably" have Haltech ECU, your car will only "probably" run. Actually, no it won't run. You are going to need the ECU and injectors at the time you do the turbo upgrade.  No thoughts on "this much boost" as you didn't say how much boost that actually is. Having said that, plenty of unopened RB25's making even more power then what you are chasing.
