Sau Vic 2012 Motorsport Championship Round 5 - Sandown 11Th August

Bit of an update on my engine.

Looks like #1 piston smashed into the spark plug. Sparkplug is broken in half...bottom part is missing, broken off. When I shine a light into the #1 bore I can see a conrod which is not quite right. Then looks like all those loose parts found their way into the turbos causing the smoke screen.

So yeah. That is the story.

if you want any hi res ones PM me the pic and your email and will send out.

Had a good day.

Think it was Jason and myself that had our first track day.

Spun out doing driver training with Martin lol.

Slowing posted better lap times during the day went from 2:15, 2:00, 1:53 to 1:47 through the sessions.

Oil temps got to 105-110 so not to bad.

Can't wait till the next Sandown! And good to meet a few new faces in Artz, BJ, Bel etc...

Sorry to hear about your car Bel, if you want the N1 block let me know.

And here's a pic of my car :P

had a great time out on the track...was my first track day and wont be my last

think me and Tony span out at the same corner during training

thanks again Scott for letting me your socket set.

Great to hear most of you had a good time. Tony and Martin, lol. Good one.

Sandown is not a particularly inviting place in the wet/damp. Nice to see you made the most of it.

Rob those photos in the sand are priceless.

best pic...must admit i had to giggle when you flew past me down the back straight and ended up in the dirt...

good thing I wasn't trying to keep up with you through those corners hey

Artz I would have giggled if someone did that to me too, i'm glad you didn't try to follow though, otherwise you may have followed into my boot!

That was in the morning Richo. It did dry out later on... apart from the entry to turn 9 :(

Fyp lol

Oh man what a frustrating day. Couldn't get a decent enough dry run, catch can over filled and oil splattered along strut tower to the firewall was a pain to clean up.(thanks bell for helping me out!) Then got sick from the burgers and threw up in the sink lol sorry sanshel *spelling? Who was next to me in the garage and had to hear it. I'm still recovering lol. But was good to meet some more of the Sau guys and put a face to the usernames lol

Fyp lol

Definitely will lower the car for next time

Yeah bad luck Dimmy

My sausages definitely tasted a bit funky...

No problem, that little socket set came in handy for me too. :)

I must have a cast iron gut, the sausages and coffee got me through the day.

John, congrates on the top 10 result at WTAC! a very solid result i think. at least it was dry where you were.

and thanks for all the pics to Katie and the other shooters

Seriously, sick from the food and not from the slipping and sliding on the track?

Though from the food, not too surprised. Due to Bel's misfortune, they stopped my group going out so they could clean up the oil and they called lunch 15mins early. I popped in to food garage and they were scrambling to cook food so decided to go back later :whistling:

As for the day, there were streams across the track, the clouds would open just as I headed out. I've only reviewed my practice session footage, turn two/three and great a spun car, last turn I'm laughing at the amount of understeer, slow as and still pushed straight on - this was the out lap!

Wasn't even thinking of getting a fast time, decided to play and try different techniques - Greg, thanks for advice, next wet track day I will definitely use it as a chance to really play with car setup - can't be worse than current push in, tail out.
