If I install an oil cooler, thermostat, and filter relocation kit,

does the oil drain back into the sump and overfill it?

The cooler is below the thermostat and filter, but it might siphon and leave the oil in the sump untill it opens the oil thermostat.

Im worried about the crankshaft hitting oil on startup.

whats the best way to avoid this?

So... the cooler will stay full, and purge any air fairly soon after startup.

Its an Earls oil thermostat, i thought they would be fully closed when cold.

Ok i went and blew through it, like you said, not fully closed.
